I've reinstalled MWO and the latest driver and my frame rate is 6 which makes the game completely unplayable.

Before the patch I was running at 40+ fps.

SOLVED:
Changing shadows from low to vhigh fixed this issue for me - back to getting 50fps.

Are we expected to see an improvement in fps rates after patch, and if so by how much? I was getting 25-35 fps on low settings. Not impressive but good enough. What should I expect if I keep same settings after patch? How do I know if I should uninstall and reinstall a fresh download to improve fps?

Shadows are very hard on most video cards, you usually see a good FPS improvement by disabling them.

It makes no sense that turning them back on improved framerates.

Want to know if you need to do the uninstall/reinstall dance for mw:o?
Ask this question "was there a patch since the last time i played?"
If yes, then do so.i do after every patch.seems to save me a lot of headaches.it seems like if i dont do so after every patch i get every bug possible.

I don't always reinstall my video games after a patch.
But when i do,it's mechwarrior online.
Stay toasty my friends.

i would sign that... i never reinstalled the game after a patch until 2nd last patch, and with every single one my performance got worse and worse, and over all the game seemed to get messed up... reinstalling after the patch 2 weeks ago most problems were solved...

since they wanted to fix some bugs i did test the patch.

so far ...
25 matches not a single dc ( in my team or the enemy team ) = perfect
more fps ( i didnt reinstall or changed smt ... iam now at 65 fps .. high options )
no fps lag ( normaly i had that every 15-20 matches )

less bugs more fps.. now just fix the netcode.. but this were finaly a progess !

Low shadows could be calculated by the CPU and high shadows could be calculated by the GPU. ArmA has a system like that I think. Could explain why increasing shadows increases performance.

I did a clean reinstall just to see (what a pain, can't imagine doing that every week). My fps is the same at 25-35 for low settings at 1280x800 resolution with v sync turned off and shadows set to high. I don't notice any difference with toggling shadows from low to high. I also updated my nVidia card with latest driver that came out a few days ago in addition to reinstalling fresh client and rebooting my computer. I notice no difference whatsoever. Still get same 25-35 fps. Anybody else find the same performance as before patch?

Since the last patch the game starts at 40fps then I move the mech to the left/right to view the friendly mechs and the FPS drops to 8-9 instantly. As soon as a mech comes into view my FPS dies.

If MWO consisted of driving around the country-side without encountering a single Mech, friendly or otherwise, then my Frame Rate would be up in the high 40s.
