And I'm really, really bad with it. So bad I pretty much quit matches prematurely because it feels so clunky and difficult to use.

I've limited my first 4 mechs before that only to energy weapons and ballistics, and wanted to give missiles a try, but I simply can't make em work!

Any tips or tricks for someone who is horrible at using missiles? The delay for firing srms is horrendus! :)

At this point i would definately sell the mech if it wasn't required to get my k2 to elite status.

Hit / to open your missile doors. Missile delay gone. More vulnerable though.

Just boat SRMs. Then it's just point and click for easy points.

press / to open your missile doors. It should help lessen the firing delay somewhat. I run an srm4 a1 and it's my favorite mech. Though getting used to the firing delay and compensating for lagshields is hard to get the hang of.

Also invest in an XL engine if you haven't already, I recommend a 300. A bigger engine increases you torso twist speed, which you need to aim since Catapults don't have lower arm actuators.

A couple of tips.
-equip it with all srms. Aim with the ARM reticule. Have two weapon groups: one for full salvo and one chain fire. Use chain fire at first to learn to aim and estimate lag/movement lead. This will need some getting used to as you have lots more vertical traverse than horisontal.
- equip jump jets. That way you can spread out damage dealt to you.
-move after assaults and surprise your enemies. Caves and buildings are your friends.

all srm4 work with out DHS

How do you know if your missile doors are open? I read somewhere there was a light but I don't see anything change when I press '/'. Also someone in game mentioned it was the '-' or '-' (numpad) key. Can anyone confirm? Are missile doors only for the A1 or do other catapults have the same feature?

Light is bugged atm. Just press the key once at start for every drop.

DFC, nice cut of steak there Vassago.

And check the speed. That speed on these things really helps kill targets imo, I sometimes underestimate their speed and get caught in perma-range. These types of missile Cats are like zombies in that they're faster than you think, and if they get the jump on you you're already in big trouble.

A tip is to shoot for the legs, like you would with a centurion.

Here is waht you do:

LRM 10 x2 +4 ammo with case
SRM6 x2 +2 ammo in leg
SSRM2 x2 +2 ammo in other leg

weapon group 1 SRAM6 you use it as a shotgun
weapon group 2 SSRM2 if you are not under ecm, kill lights and help dps big guys
weapon group 3 LRM whenever yopu are +180 m away and can see the target (dont spam 800+ mater you will hit nothing, use it as a mid range weapon)

Get artemis when you cane.

Try to say around 200 - 220 m from your enemy and spam all yor weapons.

Little known fact, at 180 - 200m (up to ~400 with sensor module + beagel )you can lock ECM lights and SSRM + LRM them down!!! HUEHUE HUE

I am not very impressed with your 10 damage total streaks and jack of all trades arsenal. Just stick to one kind of missiles.

xl engine ( maybe artemis but never used that ) go fully for speed to keep almost the pace with a light ecm mech.

run incognito with him.. go for slow mechs aka assaults ( you need to know atleast your favourite food ).. go into his back .. job is done .
train your jumpjet skills and well aiming .

that were my tactic with srm before ECM... it was way harder since you had to be realy realy sneaky.
you can switch to ssrm too... but thats realy tricky even more when your pugging ( like me )... you have to be realy close to your ECM mechs.. and when they are about to die... you need realy get out asap... and find something you can shot at ( if the other team still have ECM ).

just my 2cents... in short words : training is the key.

Artemis will improve your SRM damage spread at certain ranges; at 0, ~135m and ~270m you can put most of the damage in one spot.

Versatil weapon loadout mean you will never be a sitting duck.

You will always have something to shoot and easily do 600+ damage in a game .. you migh not have a kill but will have 7 assist or more and a ton of money...

and oyu will be much more usefull to the team then the guy with 6xSRM6 with 150 damage and 4 kills.
