I was just in a 8v8 drop on frozen colony. We spent several tense moments probing for a weakness we could exploit in the enemy defense. Both teams were very patient and disciplined. Seven minutes into the game, our scouts finally managed to sneak into the enemy base. A few of the enemy mechs turned to respond and our assaults and heavies pounced on their position. What followed was was a flurry of chaos and destruction; the stuff that the bards like to write about. When the smoke cleared, we were being capped and we thought all was lost. Our remaining scout went back to defend the base against two to one odds. He defeated one of them, but the other finally got him. But his sacrifice was not in vain. We out capped them by about 3 seconds. These are the moments I live for. This is why I play the game.

If you're talking about the game ending in a cap, I disagree. We usually just go out and destroy everyone. :)

Get a life. I post about why I enjoy the game, and all you can say is [REDACTED]? Seriously? If you don't have anything nice to say, then shut your yap. No one wants to hear it.

OK. Tell you what. You can respond to this again, and I'll let you have the last word. I know how much you want it. Then I'm going to ignore you.

Ignore irunfast.... gimp lol, I've had some amazing battles in River City lately, I'm playing scout until I master my Jenner and weaving in and out of the building and mechs taking pot shots and running through fire, dust and debris as the chaos ensues is quite exciting, also scouting on forest colony and getting a bit to close to the enemy lines is pretty fun when the light show starts and I'm trying my best to outrun LRMs.. that's why i play at the moment.

OP great story. I love it when games go like that. I had a huge turn around game that ended up in a loss for my side. I was piloting a jenner in this match. The other scout and I took advantage of the giant brawl both teams got into near the center of the forest colony. We take off to cap the enemy base. We had the base down to a pixel remaining when half the enemy team jumped on us. The other scout died almost instantly and I ran like hell. I died just on the other size of the hill that the big radar dish is on. It was a great turn around for them.

Unfortunately, there's usually at least one of these trolls in each game also, preventing awesome things from happening by sheer virtue of being gigantic tools. Internet + guaranteed anonymity = human-shaped partially sentient monkey dingle-berry. The sort of person that likes to show girls how much he likes them by punching puppies in front of them. Most be bored to create a new account to do that though. I like that he had to edit his first post to get the message across also.

YES, I KNOW I FED IT.

Great game you described there at any rate Grugore. Every now and again, I have a similar experience, and it reaffirms my faith in the game. I once played a game that ended when my last AC2 round took out the cockpit of the atlas that was microseconds from capping our base. I mostly pug though, so when a game like that happens, I look wistfully at the scoreboard when it appears, and think to myself "Is this what the people playing in magical pre-made land experience EVERY GAME?"

Mostly though... my groups are a third full of Mr Inadequate above. Maybe they can tinker with the matchmaker to weed them out? OOH! Or to let you join a group made exclusively of them! Being in any sort of proximity to people like that is sure to make decent people seem even better in comparison.

Edit: GAH! I was feeding the troll, not Grugore! Helmer is on the ball with his post deletions!

Experience and opinions will difer, but as I play all types frequently...yes, and no.

'epic' matches happen more often vs. number of matches in 8-man.
While Pugging or 2-4 man Pre, they happen just as frequently vs. time (shorter matches...more chances for good match)
The only main difference between 'Lone Wolf' Pugging, and casual txt-based 2-4 man grouping is in W/L ratio's on the cruddy matches.

Scouting the enemy and looking for weak spots and then attacking them is called Tactics its not the same as get the marsh mallows out and base camp or the other boring play peep a boo until 2 mins then everyone rush for other camp. Sounds like a good game and the type I prefer even when you are the team that just lost. I personally prefer a good match with a tight close fight win or loose over a sheesh we beat the cheese FOTM group or we stomped them or our base rushed them but that's just me...

Edit PS why is it today my return key does not work in forum post only in external text editor :)

Congratulations on finding the sweet spot in 8v8 competition Grugore. I've noticed a higher percentage of close games in 8v8 than in pick up groups myself. Hope to see you on the battlefield.

I found my reason for playing in November, when I sent a 'mech 40 tons heavier than me running for the hills. In a COM-1B.
