What Happened To The Sound Effects And Visuals For Ammo Explosions?

Maybe it's just me, but I haven't heard the "thump, thump, thump, thump" sounds of internal ammo explosions or seen fire jetting out of a mech that was experiencing an ammo explosion for some weeks now. Happened in closed beta, but I can't quite pin down when I stopped seeing it.

Did the ammo explosion effects get reduced in a patch and I just missed it in the notes?

I think the game could use some enhancement to those visuals and sounds for crits and ammo explosions. Other than seeing a stack of "component xp awards" on the left of the screen, there is somewhat of a "meh" experience to scoring an ammo burst.

You'd think cooking off a couple of tons of AC/20 or LRM ammo in one instant burst would look a little more dramatic, wouldn't you?

I know the computer voice tells you though
I was in a K-2 with no ammo when I heard "ammunition destroyed" which was funny
I thought "if it got destroyed why couldnt I throw it at them"

The game has so many framerate problems at the moment I think one more effect might make it roll over and die

Maybe that's what happened to the effects. Maybe the devs removed them as a shortcut optimization to improve game performance. If that's the case, I sure hope that they add them back in when the game can take it. In fact, I'd like it if different types of ammo had different types of explosions.... wishful thinking.

I am fairly sure the cook off sound has been missing for a while; however the effects of CASE and an Un-CASED ammo detonation are still there.

If by effect, you mean the damage, then I wholly agree. But if you mean effect as in explosion, then I might beg to differ. I remember seeing flames coming out of a mech, coinciding with the cook off noise. It was a visual way of telling that you caused an ammo eruption. That effect, along with the sounds, is gone. That, or what I thought I saw was wishful delusion brought on by too much drink and exitement.

Hopefully it will return some day. It was quite a bit better when you could experience a more positive visual and audible representation of scoring an ammo crit.

It's still there, I saw it today.

I haven't seen it lately, but a team mate saw it a few days ago. By the sound of his surprise it would seem he hadn't seen it in a while either.

Maybe with everyone carrying ammo in their legs to make room for double heat sinks it just isn't as common anymore?
