Lets say you equip that bulky and useless command console. Let your team launch into a game with 9 people instead of 8, and the last guy is the team commander. Access to map, waypoints, focus orders, objectives and target information as well as controller or drones, orbital strikes etc when those are implemented. Can switch between spectating his team to a detailed 3D battle map with 1980s "enhanced imaging" style wireframe targets and teammates. If the mech with command console dies from a headshot, he loses all control. If the mech is legged he is fine, if the mech is cored he loses some capabilities. If another mech has a better functioning command console, he switches to it.

This would really give a whole other level of depth to the game, and would add an entire new play style. If people want to specialize as team commanders, they can rise up the ranks from teammates votes and become really good at what they want to do. It would also help unite puggers, if the guy and his buddy in an Atlas with CC are grouped up in a 2 man, while simultaneously making advanced playing a lot more competitive among teams. Good commanders would be sought out and would get paid special wages per match based on how effective their team was and how well they followed orders. Thoughts? Comments? Criticisms? Please share. I I k this should be seriously considered, an alternative to mindless shoot-em-up mech fights.

Also, obviously give the teams an option for "no Commanders", "Commanders optional", and "Only games with Commanders"

I have a SIM pit dream that approves of the general concept :) Slim it down sme though, to much for PGI to handle.

Yea I'm not a game developer, programmer or in the gaming industry like apparently 99% of the people who use the forums are. I feel like something like this could be done though.

At this point, I don't care what they do with it, just so long as they leave the tilde key out of it. That's my 'press to talk' key for everything. :)

The developers should look to the "operator" in AC5 for the purpose of the command console. They'll need to make a few changes here and there but it was a solid addition to the team. Being an operator was extremely satisfying.

Command Console gives the D-DC an extra module slot...or at least it used to!

limitations of cryengine,.. for us not in the industry, what are they then?
My frend had sutch high hope's he first god too see the beta (he's a quake-fanatic) only because he saw it runs on cry-engine, I had just high hope's in general.
but what can we expect?, this suggestions does not seem that hard to do to me (man who works with chainsaws in the forrest), would take time do and is this game not planned to come out of beta someday?

I say only let people with a command console use the command map features.

It would be a turn in the right direction.
