Not a death-trap for those who are skillful enough to survive.
Tell that to dozens of Hunchys and Dragons that tend to die in fire as soon as you break their side torsos. It's no matter of skill. A brawler has to be at the front line, fighting in circles of death against mostly other brawlers. No center torso armor is going to keep you alive when a lucky shot breaches through your side torso while circling, tearing your XL appart.

This isn't meant to be a brawler. That's what the Atlas (and to a lesser extent) Awesome is for. With JJ, good speed and two ballistic hard points, along with energy hard points, this mech (and its variants) will be a better optimized Catapult K2.

Be careful the word "unseen" refers to a specific group of mechs (those ripped off of Robotech) which are not used due to license issues.

Just keep away from the front end of the Assault and this will brawl fine.

The Unseen 'mechs were created when Fasa and Harmony Gold were in a partnership. When the parnership was dissolved Harmony Gold was left retaining the rights to the Unseen. There was no rip-off. Last I heard Harmony Gold didn't care that the Warhammer appeared in the proto-MW5 send-up. To me MechWarrior and Robotech have robots with seperate styles. They don't really compare beyond being giant robots.

No - nearly all of the above is incorrect.
Last point first: Harmony Gold was sending out cease and desist letters to media outlets such as IGN with regard to the "MW 3015" video/trailer; they very much did care.

Battledroids (the precursor to BattleTech) was originally released in sometime around August of 1984 (from the court documents, linked below).
Robotech (as distinct from Macross) originally aired on March 04, 1985.
"Battledroids" became "BattleTech" sometime in the Fall of 1985 "pursuant to a settlement between FASA and LucasFilm" (from the court documents, linked below).
And all was well... until ~1994.
- FASA CORPORATION and VIRTUAL WORLD ENTERTAINMENT, Plaintiffs, v. PLAYMATES TOYS, INC., Defendant (December 05-07, 1994)
- FASA CORPORATION and VIRTUAL WORLD ENTERTAINMENT, Plaintiffs, v. PLAYMATES TOYS, INC., Defendant (June 19-23, 1995)
- FASA CORPORATION and VIRTUAL WORLD ENTERTAINMENT, Plaintiffs, v. PLAYMATES TOYS, INC., Defendant (January 22, 1996)
One example is the "ExoSquad Heavy Attack E-Frame", pictured below and clearly modeled on the Mad Cat:
In response, FASA (along with Virtual World Entertainment) sued Playmates. The details of the proceedings can be read at the above-bulleted links.
And then came the issue with Harmony Gold (who, at the time, had a business relationship with Playmates):
- HARMONY GOLD U.S.A., INC., a corporation, and PLAYMATES TOYS, INC., a corporation, Plaintiffs, v. FASA CORPORATION, a corporation, and VIRTUAL WORLD ENTERTAINMENT, a corporation, Defendants (June 12-13, 1996)
- HARMONY GOLD U.S.A., INC, a corporation; and PLAYMATES TOYS, INC., a corporation, Plaintiffs, v. FASA CORPORATION, a corporation; and VIRTUAL WORLD ENTERTAINMENT, a corporation, Defendants (November 06-07, 1996)
All of the Unseen are originally Japanese in origin, and there was no such partnership between FASA and Harmony Gold.

The estimate, last we knew as of October 16th, was November 13th. So, less than two weeks from now at the soonest, but with Conquest mode also estimated to go live November 6th (according to same source) there's a good chance that they might have to hotfix some things with that. Honestly, my two c-bills worth, two weeks if all goes well, longer if it doesn't, and since "new code" is known to be as imperfect as it's creators, at best... well, I'd say safe bet it'll be later than announced.

I don't see many dragons die to getting side cored...and the cataphract's side cores will be those two thin areas between the arms and ct....they aren't going to be easy to hit. Also I actually did better before the engine restrictions in my fast xl atlas then I did in a straight standard engine brawler atlas....You tend to get more fire power and/or run cooler on the the xl build and depending on your playstyle/tactics it can be just as good if not better a brawler. How you play the mech can make all the difference...just happened that a faster xl atlas build suited my natural playstyle more, so I did better with it....may not be that way for everyone but the point is xl's are not the death trap that many think they are...especially on some mechs, and with some play styles.

Yes, but they were not stolen, they had originally purchased the rights to use quite a few designs from Macross, After a while Harmony Gold bought Macross and noticed that battletech was getting big while using the designs from Macross - They chose to not honor the previous deal that FASA had.
