Uh, isn't that a Hatomoto-Chi, not a Grand Dragon???

I loves me a Hatchetman, I do, but I think the Hatomoto is going to win...

IIRC Axe does more damage than a Sword So the Axe should win even with the 10 ton difference.

Six SRM-6 CPLT-A1 kills one through rear torso armor, accidentally TKs his teammate on the other side. :)

'Enter the Dragon' is in reference to the Draconis Combine, House Kurita.

I know the TT guys are gonna flame me to death and spit out my rotting corpse but I really don't want to see melee combat in MWO and I'll tell you why. All it'll do is cheapen the game and force the only viable tactic to be run up to enemy mech and hit it. And then all you'll see on the battlefield would be mechs with massive armor, massive engines and no weapons other than the melee one. As i understand TT rules it stops you from doing that but MWO does not (without significant changes to the game).

The Hatamoto-Chi, if custom outfitted with a sword, would do 9 damage (80/10 + 1) in a single swing, whereas the Axman, at 65 tons, would do 13 damage (65/5) in a single swing. The hatchet is less likely to hit than the sword, due to the sword's balanced mass.

Screw it, Axman wins because hatchets are cooler.

I don't believe that it would, because the max you can do with a hatchet is 20 damage (unless they introduced TSM). Any mech that did more than that, or hell, even less than that when you factor in range, could easily punish a mech running right for you with only a hatchet. I would also imagine that, while performing a melee attack, the weapons on that arm couldn't even be used, or even the weapons on the rest of your mech. You could use melee to cool off, or in desperation, or in niche situations, and yes, a few mechs might be based around it, but I highly doubt, due to the extremely close nature of that sort of combat, that melee would become the only viable tactic.

But then again, we've seen some stuff become the main tactic in MWO before, and people didn't believe that would happen either. Regardless, I'd love to see melee in some form, but so long as collisions and netcode are like they are, we likely won't see melee in any form other than attempted DFA and ramming.

It's not a Hatchetman, it's an Axeman.
Also, the Axeman wins, because AC/20. Every other argument is invalid.
(I think I must make a meme...)

Hatchets are a million times cooler than silly old swords.

Now if it was up to me, they'd be beating each other to death with those lamp posts in River City that you can knock over. :)

If it were up to me, my Atlas would be able to grab a Commando, and beat another Commando to death with the first Commando.

The Sword will hit before the Axe does cutting the Arm off and the Axe swirls around through the air beheading the Drak.
As both Mech collide after that the heavier will crush the lighter one and the fight ends both destroyed.

And imho Melee has no place in the current game but Atlasses should be allowed to grab Light Mechs and impale them on street lamps. :)

I'm voting Axman. That Hatamoto-whatever that has a sword (even though no Hatamoto that I'm aware of uses one) killed a Thunderbolt, and I can't stand for that.

Obviously this is a clear case of:

HOUSE KURITA VS HOUSE DAVION!

Or maybe I'm just making that up... haha
