I understand tester fatigue plays a factor, but we need NEW maps..no not the same maps with different lighting, or with different weather effects. Maps are not that difficult to create, and yes I do know this from personal experience. New battle fields would go a long way towards mitigating fatigue.

Creating maps is time consuming when they have to go through testing. Say a good map can be created in about a week, testing methods can increase that time out to months. This is the large difference between player made and professional maps. And if they started to take player made maps they'd probably spend just as much time sorting out the crap ones and testing/polishing the good ones.

the difficulty of creating new maps depends very thoroughly on the engine they use to create them, how much detail there is and how original they are.
the more quickly maps are made the more likely they are to be very simple. it is pretty obvious that all of these maps are custom works of art. a simple way to test this: walk around a map and see how many things you can find that were repeated. even most of the buildings are custom made. i see no trace of copy pasta anywhere on any of these maps.
they have made balanced maps that are not just mirrored cop outs like most games do.
i won't lie i would like more maps, but they have already set the bar with their first few maps and they can't cut quality now.

Tihs game is beta. We dont mind copypasta in the details as long as there's variety. Plus, with copypasta we can have tons more unique fields to play on, and they can be regularly gone through and "updated" to have custom artwork later.
We need more variety of places first. The map makers can go back through and fine tune them later.
I have a lot of skill in map making, since i've been doing it for free for about 9-10 years now, from Quake 3 and Soldat and Rune to Homeworld and Black and White. It takes a good hour to two to create and fully flesh out a single map quadrant. More detail increases time required at an almost exponential scale. Dem polys.
