Hello everyone,

I had yesterday the well know yellow screen.

So I did try all things everyone already tried as I suppose. (enginge power down and up, battlegrid and so on)

First when I did press:

right shift + F11

to disable my HUD. I could see my surrounding clearly again.

The problem is, you can't see your HUD because it is disabled but at least you could see where you are going or where the mechs are.

So it is not a real workaround but maybe it will help to see more than only a yellow screen.

cheers

I've heard forcing your mech to overheat sometimes rectifies the issue, but only sometimes. I haven't had this happen in a while to test it out.

I came up with this same workaround a few days ago, and I used it again today to great effect. How useful you are will depend on your build, and on your targets.

1) you have no HUD. That means no crosshairs, no minimap, no text/chat, and no base cap meter. You also cannot read target data, or see your weapon status.

2) Today I was piloting an Atlas when I was hit by the Yellow Screen of Death. Automatically typed in that I was going without HUD to give my team the heads up.

3) Because I cannot tell friend from foe with the HUD disabled, I tagged along with a friendly Atlas, and shot at what he shot at. I didn't let him out of my sight, and as much as the rest of the team as I could keep track of. We took out a Cataphract and another Atlas together. When my Atlas buddy died, I followed a zombie Centurion that had originally been following us.

4) Compensate for the lack of a targeting reticule. Use lasers and walk them into the target. Your arm mounted weapons are going to be a little bit all over the place, so use center-to-legs command to put the arms center screen again. Focus on big slow targets if you can.

I lucked out because I was playing an Atlas with 2 AC2 and 2 LLAS, so I was able to stand my ground and fight against other slow targets, and the rapid fire AC2 gave me some clues as to if I was hitting or not. Even though I couldn't use my LRMs at all, I wouldn't have had so much luck in a light mech that needed to move around a lot. I would have aimed quite poorly, and I would have lost track of my team as I dodged behind and around buildings.

So this time I lucked out... 400 damage on the nose, 1 kill, 1 assist, all with no HUD. Better than quitting to desktop, I think.

Your mileage may vary.

This is a good half workaround - I hope Niko Snow or someone updates this thread with the workaround so that more people know about it: http://mwomercs.com/...ost__p__1492882

So, I got my first Yellow Screen o Death yesterday, but I did this on purpose because of a theory I have. Theory being that an overheating GPU will cause the YSoD. Took 5 hours, but it happened. And I got a nice error code to boot. The error R6025. Basicly, the program was trying to call an asset that was not there. I googled how to fix it; came back with a Registry cleaner and a System cleaner. Basicly, ran CCleaner for the system and the registry. And now I'm back in my CTF-4X putting plenty of rounds at any mech that stands in the way of victory. Also; didn't have to re-install the game because of this fix
