I bought the Yen-Lo-Wang shortly after Open Beta started, and there are a couple of things I would like to suggest that you mention to prospective buyers.

Firstly, I suggest that you clearly state to players that its ballistics arm can only move up and down, and no further left and right that its torso. It feels like a less armored, more exposed torso, which completely ruins the Mech for me.

Secondly, I also suggest that you mention that the Yen permanently occupies a mechbay slot. It didn't say anywhere that I couldn't sell the Mech again, and now I'm down one slot. Edit: It would be a good idea to have unsellable Mechs come with a free mechbay slot. Edit: Nevermind, Hero Mechs are sellable now.

If I had known these two things beforehand, I never would have bought the Yen.
That's why I would also like to suggest that you give refunds to players who bought the Mech without knowing about this. Namely, me. Please?

I hope I don't sound like a *****, I certainly don't intend to. This is the only issue I've had with the game, so far. I think your doing a great job. Keep it up.

Edit: I just remembered that I forgot to post a link to another thread I made about this same issue. Support suggested that I post here also. Here's that thread. There are a lot of people agreeing with me on this.

Edit: I'm bumping this topic because I just noticed an update that I think is relevant: I can sell my Yen-Lo-Wang!

I was clicking around in my Mechlab, when I saw the "Sell" button above the Yen. This is excellent, since it no longer permanently occupies a slot! Awesome!

Now, before I sell it, I would like to know how this works. I see that you can sell it for CB, so is the MC I paid for it lost? And when I sell it, will it be "unlocked" so I can buy it again for CB?

I would still really like a refund, since I still feel a bit cheated about the arm.

Edit: What I mean about feeling cheated is that it doesn't say anywhere that the Yen's arm can't move around like a regular arm. It's locked like a Jenner's arms, which I don't like very much. So, I spent MC on a Mech that I'm never going to use.

A free mechbay with a hero should happen honestly. Maybe a button that turns off or on showing founders and heroes in the mechbay like the trials only button.

seems reasonable, considering these forums, we should reward this type of post. i would love to see a dev pop in here and say, "oops, didnt notice the hero didnt come with a slot. we are fixing that right up, also we are bringing back team play so you can drop 8v8!"

i threw that second part in cuz i really miss it already.

Yeah that seems unfair. Honestly the more I hear and see of the Yen the more I'm convinced it is a naff mech with a naff design. It really should have something to compensate for the lack of the hatchet/claw such as an srm pack. This would keep it in line with being a brawler and improve the mech no end.

Concur. At the very least you should be warned that you permanently lose a bay.

I agree it should come with a mechbay.

I also think you should be able to repaint it. The rising sun paint is very cool, but it's also a big marker that says "Shoot my arm off right now!"

I know it's a hero mech, and the paint is part of the mech's lore, but just the fact that you can have two in a match already means we've decided to ignore the letter of the lore, so letting people repaint it, and maybe buy themselves an extra minute without the mech's one real gun being shot off, seems reasonable to me.

Free bay sounds good. Would probably need more coding in the UI to purchase it as it won't work with the default system.

I agree with a free mech bay for Hero Mechs. You can't sell them and they cost a lot more in MC than their equivalents.

I agree as well with the free mech bay idea, but I gotta say I have no issue with the arm movement profile for the design. I have 4 founders mechs but I find these days I play my Wang more because it has a movement profile similar to my buddy's Dragon. I have great success with it actually. I don't understand why everyone says it is so bad.

But yes to the mech bay. That should be the case I think.

This is a long ways off, but I want that free arm to be useful in melee. It's canon, and it would be fun, and would fit with the brawler design of the mech.

An interesting thing might be to make it so that if the YLW collides with another Mech on it's Left Arm it does more damage and (assuming knockdowns are back) counts as slightly heavier than it really is.

I'd love to be able to shoulder charge people with a YLW.

Firstly, I suggest that you clearly state to players that its ballistics arm can only move up and down, and no further left and right that its torso.

That's because the mech has no lower arm actuator. No mech in the Battletech universe is capable of fitting an AC/20 on an arm without removing both the lower arm and hand actuator. What does this mean for you? It means if you're gonna replace your mechs arm from the bicep down with a giant gun you're not going to have the luxury of pre-surgery movement with that arm. A good thing that they've done in this game is determined rather specifically what each arm/leg/hand actuator does in relation to mech movement in game. Try piloting the CAT-K2 for another example not involving a giant cannon of the limitations involved with a mech with no lower arm actuator. No need to have buyers remorse because the information was out there, you simply didn't look for it and seem to be surprised by the inclusion of this particular detail. I must agree with the OP that if Hero Mech's are unsalable then they should definitely come with their own mechbay slot. That portion must have been an oversight by the dev's and hopefully they catch this thread and correct the issue. The Yen-Lo is one of the more famous of the custom variants and that bit about the AC/20 on the arm is something that you would only know if you researched the record sheet before you bought it or ever crunched a custom mech on paper.

Hope this was informative.
