As the title says, what is the most terrifing monster/species in all of media. Includes books, games, and movies. State your reasoning and share.

I think it is The Thing from "John Carpenter's The Thing". It is one of most disturbing beings to have ever haunted the world of sci-fi. Not only does it kill you, it becomes you. Assimilating the cells in your body to create a perfect copy of you, either violently, or slowly. It hides inside the new copy of its assilated host and will wait for the best oppertunity to strike at its prey.

Like I side, it could assimilate you in horrorifingly brutal ways(Not sure if I can post links to videos showcasing this) or it could do something as simple as remove a tiny part of itself and put it into your food, assuring a slow, very unnoticable assimilation. To me it trumps all other monsters in its terrifing processes. You cant kill it with bullets, only with fire. And if it so muchs as scratchs you, there is no saving you.

So what monsters haunt your dreams and make watch the shadows?

Yeah My vote goes to the Aliens from the Aliens movies. Those buggers are damn terrifying, meeting them in real life... i am pretty sure i would soil myself, just before I got my brains munched.

Yup. However, it's not just the overall species that's the scariest - yeah, they're scary, but one of the forms easily takes the cake for the most terrifying creature around.

Posted Image

It's small. It's fast. It's quiet. It can move on any surface. If it finds you, it will jump, latch onto your face, shove a tube down your throat, and knock you out. If your buddies try to get it off of you, it either strangles you or burns you to death with its acid blood. And, when it's finished with what amounts to oral rape, it detaches and dies. For the next few hours, you feel fine. Maybe some heartburn or a mild cough, but hey - it's better than having that freaky spider-crab thing on your head. And then THE ALIEN BABY IT IMPLANTED IN YOUR BODY DECIDES TO COME OUT. Through your sternum.

Star Wars Alien. Dumb speaking, long ears and tongue. Was responsible for the rise of the Empire and never got punished for that!

Here is his WANTED poster:

A good old little cutie FaceHugger :)

You think thats scary? Try the "ALIEN BABY" point of view whyle busting out of poor civvi chest! Aliens vs Predator 2 game have that scene.

But... my vote goes for MineCraft - try to scout some dungeon, in night, with lights down and in headphones. And dont forget Herobrine!

I was refering to the scene when the creature poped out of his chest , he was eating spagetti at the time.

Rush Limbaugh. Not only is he a horrible excuse for a human being, but people actually listen to him.

If we're going fiction only, though... Shoggoth.

I was going to suggest the Xenomorph, but then I read the rest of the posts in this thread. Then I remembered Stephen King's Oil Slick from Creep Show 2 movie. But that ties into an even older horror monster. So I'm going with a classic: THE BLOB!

A neigh unstoppable gelatinous red goo that devours EVERYTHING! I first saw it when I was little and it freaked me out!
