[Pan Damonium]

So I was just in a match (Forest Colony) and in the middle of fleeing from a fight I didn't want at the moment...using my jump jets like a twitchy madman (they're still a novelty to me). I am not sure exactly what happened, but ALL the data that shows on the HUD (map, reticule/targeting stuff, compass...pretty much everything but the scenery) was just gone.

I could still move, fire, and hitting my 'r' key gave the voice which told me I had a new target, only I had no red triangle to show me where it was.

What I am wondering, is if in my twitchy flight maybe I hit a key that disables the HUD for taking screenshots or something? Is there such a command? Or is this a bug I hadn't yet experienced? For what its worth, I was using thermal vision...though I cant see that being the cause

Before I disconnected, I decided to try to finish the match...only that:

1- I literally could not tell who was on my team and who was the enemy - unless someone attacked me. If I had kept at it I would have pissed my team off (more than just DCing halfway through would) because I was literally flailing and 'blind'.

2- I got in a fight with a centurion ( i was in a Catapult C4, loaded down with SRM6s ) and found it pretty much impossible to place my shots well without anything to use as a guide (i.e. the HUD!) and even my beam weapons couldn't touch the guy.

It is interesting to note how dependent people are on all of the instrumentation of the cockpit. I am at least. Take a few (or all) of these visual cues/crutches away and what good can anyone really do?

I realize this post was kind of long...considering I really just want to ask if there is an obscure command to disable the hud? If so, I guess I must have hit that combo of keys, but for all of my effort I tried every key on my keyboard before I gave up and DCed. I would think the keyboard command would be somewhat intuitive, if there even is one.

Right shift key + F11 is the key command to toggle the HUD on and off.
I don't know how you could hit that accidentally, but it may be the cause of your problem.

It is good to know that there is a way to toggle it intentionally. In this case then, I can't believe that it was an accident of frantic fingers hitting just the right combo...if anything I assumed my left hand had spazzed out and that it was something I would hit on that side of my keyboard. I almost never go near the F# keys.

I'm trying to think of anything else relevant that occurred that is worth mentioning, but other than what I said before and the fact that I couldn't bring up chat or the battlegrid I guess I can't think of anything else that could be helpful to anyone later down the road. It hasnt happened again, though I may try to mash all of my keys in a suitably spastic fashion in effort to replicate it. I think one has to be running away from Atlases in a panic to make it happen.

I guess what matters is that it was only one game I had to abandon my team.

I once started a game with my hud down. I pilot a scout mech and it kinda renders me useless if I cannot distinquish a friend from foe, nor know where the enemy is from radar.

Also, I'm 100% sure I did not touch any of the F# keys. Pretty sure I didn't touch right shift either.

My keys (radar, thermal and night swiches at least) worked like usual, exept no hud graphics what so ever.

At least I can put my hud back on now, if that happens again.


Sensors crit could look something like that tho.

I can recall three times in the last two weeks, when (mid-match) my HUD would randomly disappear upon firing off one of my weapon groups. The best part about this glitch is the total unawareness of wtf is going on with regards to enemy vs friendly, or where anyone is located. It's... er, let's call it... 'interesting'. This has happened twice with a couple hunchies and once in my K2. If I'm not mistaken, there are major HUD changes coming in the near future, and what we're experiencing are just hicupps along the way. Beta is beta and stuff. *shrug*

I know for a fact that i didn't press RShift+F11 at any point when this happened, though.

Same thing happened to me on River City, portside spawn. Just walking up to upper city with my team in a Cataphract, about to walk up the hill to the city when the HUD disappeared. Right shift + F11 didn't do anything. I had to finish the fight by leading with lasers to find where my reticule was.
