The downside to Ferro-Fibrous used to be that it cost too much to repair. Now that we arn't paying for repairs, is it ok to use it now, or am I missing something?

Go for it.

The downside to FF is that it eats up 14 crit slots for a very small gain in tonnage. Usually those crit slots would be better off using DHS.

It takes up 14 critical spots like endo steel does. So that means less space for weapons and items and what not.

if I'm going to use-up 14 critical spaces on my Atlas, what would be best, FF Armor or EndoSteel?

If you have to pick one, pick Endo. I think I looked at FF for my Dragon, and it would have freed up one whole ton.

Using endo lets you upgrade your engine size. If you go with a 350, you get 2 extra slots for heatsinks, and if you're using doubles (you should be) this is 6 slots, offsetting the crit space cost of endo, and giving you faster speed and torso twist.
