If you mech is destroyed and you have ejected your communications equipment will be basic and only global chat should be available IMO.

I totally see your point... but... it is pointless.
Simply because the players which share useful information after their death are usually not using the chat anyway since they are connected via some 3rd party voip programms like TS3 or Ventrillo or Mumble.
So... sorry, but this wouldn't help at all and would even play into the hands of coordinated & organized teams.
And 'yes', me is "guilty" as well.
But again: I totally understand your thoughts behind the OP. But in the end PGI cannot control 3rd party programms.
