You know how many players, especially new players, complain about how they are suddenly outnumbered and killed? The players that say that their individual peformance does not matter because this is a blob game? Granted that mentality has gone down, but I have just thought of a simple solution to midigate the blob effect even more.

Be it assault or conquest mode, your entire team is deployed in one spot when the game starts. The common pug messages are, "Plan?" "Which way should we all go?" in which case the blob winds it self up and goes. Now let's take forest colony as an example, let's say 3 players were deployed at the base, 3 at the lake and 3 just outside the tunnel enterance. The overall strategy changes a bit. The tunnel group could force a quick skirmish while waiting for their team, or scout the field for snipers. The lake group could try to bypass the enemy team and go for a quick cap etc.

Not only would this spice up the tactics, it would make better use of the entire map, allowing a greater variety of individual situations for players. Staggered deployment also has the added benefit of prolonging the fight between teams into a series of skirmishes rather than one big 18th century style shootout.

I suppose as the game progresses in development players may be placed in certain positions based on tonnage/weapons or even better able to select their deployment positions when the game starts. Perhaps scout mechs get more options than assault mechs? I haven't thought through it that far.
