But then i am quite pleased bcs it means the real MW stuff will flourish and they can make Clans an expansion that has an appeal to a different playerbase they may be able to catch and nothing is as good as someone to beat up you really dislike in their behavior and ethics.

Hopefully PGI actually does something with the fluff. I wanna be in the thick of it faster!
Okay that and I like the Dragon mech... probably borderlined unhealthily. And I am not particularly fond of the DC.
So FRR is my best bet

As to the why, the short answer is MW2.

My loyalty has to be earned. Its how I've always operated.

With the current time frame I am going with Davion. Their mechs rely on autocannons heavily which are my favorite weapons (seriously, can I have a Victor please?) and this is the rise of Prince Victor, one of the few leaders in canon worth a damn. Sorry Davion fanatics but Hanse was in fact a warmonger.
I would consider House Kurita as well since this is the time of Theodore, who also promotes the well being of the IS as a whole and not just his spot in space.
Sorry FFR, but I don't want to be clan fodder.
The only sane Liao is Sun Tzu who then becomes obsessed with recovering every world his house has ever lost (to his credit he did a pretty damn good job).
Marik is too unstable
Katrina Steiner would be fine, but her granddaughter (her name is KATHERINE god damnit!) is a tyrant.
I don't want to join the clans because I like an underdog story, curb stomping everyone is not fun.

I'm not the most familiar with the exact storyline, but I would think this a pretty valid point. Wouldn't it have been worthwhile to delay the clan invasion a little bit so that the houses can duke it out for a bit, get some new mechs in the field, then bring in the clans?
Ah well, we can all still duke it out, for GLORY!

Another point. People not well versed in the lore have no idea whats going on in this universe. To a new player the factions are essentially identical and have no reason to hate each other. And they have no idea what/who the clans are and so can't really see the future of this game.
