All is going as planned.

As originally decided on by PGI, only the forumites who were suitably sycophantic towards Paul were eligible for the random selection process. Sadly the forums have failed Paul, as the screening revealed none to be eligible.

But worry not! You can still get into next phase of beta which will have less draconian selection process, and which is due to begin shortly after hell* freezes over.

*Does not apply to Cocytus.

One can only hope for the key, just imagine that some planning has to take place because when the floodgates open the system will be hammered! I would assume that a small number will start so they can begin to load balance the system, see what kind of bandwidth actually gets used and how hard the switching and servers will have to work based on how many they allow initially. It is going to be so good to get back into a Mech!

I see it came from IGN (which Piranha seem to do all their news through), and then I see "Exclusive Beta." Needless to say, I nearly jumped out of my seat, then see it is for something called "VOID." *sadness*

Edit: Also, the time would be close to noon for the devs, so timing felt right.

I'm calling what we are seeing on the forum Willy Wonka Syndrome, or Golden Ticket Syndrome. Its amusing how just about everyone on the forum is rabid for a golden ticket (beta key), yet they haven't gotten one. Just be glad you don't have to go out and buy chocolate bars to try and find the beta key. I'll put it simple that no amount of bribery, pleading, schmoozing, or any form of trying to get in will work. Have any of considered that they would begin inviting people today, and then on June 19 people can buy guaranteed access to the closed beta. Closed beta itself then won't officially start till July 17, where those who paid get in first then the next day every one who was invited gets into the closed beta.

I got the same MWT E-Mail as everyone else. I glanced at the subject line and I'm like "YES!" and then I click on it and my heart stops for twenty seconds. Since then I've clicked "Send/Recive" once every couple of hours. I just checked it, and I had gotten an E-Mail from someone else. The way the message loaded, it almost looked like "MechWarrior" because of the MWT E-Mail. Hmmm... MWO and MWT have the same publisher... Could that have been a carefully timed troll E-Mail? Could the Devs actually be WoBbies? Could I have already gotten my Beta Key and just be trolling you guys? For the latter, unfortunatly, no...
