It appears anyone i speak to has no clue that a Mech Warrior Online even exsists... This is made more apparent by the fact i just posted on facebook this video

http://www.twitch.tv...ncley/c/1814943

And all the people who i figured would know about it commented and had no clue it even existed. They have all heard/played Hawken and now 12+ people are in process of downloading it as this is the first they have heard of it!

Watch, as they quickly run back to Hawken for reasons of sanity!

I think we'll see an increase in Advertising once it builds up to launch

Funny, I've been seeing MWO and Firefall ads on various web pages I frequent.
Good on ya though!

The ads read your cookies and then slap in the appropriate adverts.

Actually it's tracked by IP. Clear your cookies and you will see that you still get them.

A lot of my friends hadn't heard of it until i mentioned it to them either, although there are ads floating about i think most people like myself use ad blockers so don't see them ^^

Give them some credits for their speed indeed. But remember that they will never be as fast as the Trolls who can get into a Thread, lickety split, and say something totally ignorant. :)

Many of my online friends didn't know about it either until I told them and most of us that do see the ads everywhere are trapped in a filter bubble of sorts. How about inviting game sites like 1up, Rock paper shotgun, Giantbomb, BluesNews, Destructoid, ect to try out the game. Make it a community effort to get these sites to do some coverage instead of just relying on IGN and PC Gamer magazine to spread the word.

Most of those review sites don't like being paid just to say nice things. It would also defeat the purpose of the beta shield. There's a reason you are only seeing coverage from IGN and PC Gamer.

I find it funny that you mention you posted something on Facebook and got responses telling you they had no idea it existed. The primary marketing push for MWO is on Facebook. Look at the sidebar from time to time folks.

I already told them to hold cardboard mech gladiator tournaments in some major cities around the world to drum up hype.

Show up to a location with your cardboard mech construction, wearing it like armour and beat opponents with foam bats.

Last one with a functional outfit wins the prize!

Doing it public would have a desirable effect.

I haven't seen an online ad in over a decade (hosts is a lovely file) and I only became aware of MWO because someone made a joke about wanting to see as many mech games as zombie games and it made me curious enough to google for any new ones.

Ya, I have a friend who does a successful geek tech site, including games. He was a MechWarrior fan and he had no idea.

Perhaps they want to keep the game a "low" profile with the state it's in? haha

Assuming they have the finical backing to pull this game off, it could very well be in their plan for a "low" profile ramp up to some big launch day. A public beta is ... well ... a beta. You don't want grandma playing it yet.
