This would include friends and family testing but does NOT include open beta testing.

The reason I am bring this up is that I have done some closed beta testing and for those games I had to sign or acknowledge a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
Specficially for the Mechcommander 2 beta in which I had to sign a sheet and fax it back to them (Microsoft).
(At least thats what I recall)

edit screwed up poll numbers

I got (somehow) into the World of Warplanes and Star Conflict closed betas. The thing to remember when playing in a beta is to try to break the game, not play to win. The more things in the game we break now the less the devs have to fix after launch.

I managed to get into the Mechcommander 2 closed beta somehow. They mailed me out a special disc, that had beta writtin in the inner ring, in a brown envelope, complete with a black and white A4 sized manual that was badly stapled together

It was very hard to finish the first level before they released the first patch, as there was a bug that made the mechs explosion radius comparable to that of a nuculear bomb going off. Kill one mech, kill yourself unless your using long range and running the oposite way!

ahhh the fun :)

I remembered that.
And it was the 3rd or 4th mission.
There was big outcry on the beta forums about the exploding fireants and urbanmechs. Domnio effect that took our your mechs as well.
The CD cover was awesome as it was coloured. I still have mine. :)

Yes, 6-10.

I have a couple friends 'in the biz' and have been a hardcore MMO/gamer for over 15 years, so...yea, I've been in some. I also did QA and tier 3 support professionally for a number of years, so I know how to do the workups and reports, so I get lots of callbacks.

I've been in so many Closed Betas I have lost precise count. I know for a fact I've been in 10+. I've been in 5+ Alpha Tests.

Nope, and I'll be sitting this one out too because of the NDA. (If there is one, which there probably will be)

To many to name and thats no lie lol.

The worst beta i've been part of that launched with no fixes yet would have to be World of Tanks or swtor, AoC was bad too but not as bad as those 2 and maby mortal online, that game was fun but tons of bugs, small development team tho.

Hmm.... lets see.. In no particular order:
Dark Age of Camelot,
Auto Assault,
APB,
Everquest 2,
Tabula Rasa,
APB:Reloaded,
Star Wars Galaxies,
Lord of The Ring Online,
DC Universe Online,
Star Wars The Old Republic,
Battlefield 2142,
World of Tanks,
Endless Space (Alpha)(NDA safe, with Steam Purchase giving you Alpha access),
Guild Wars,
Guild Wars 2.

Currently I am splitting my time between Endless Space and another NDA restricted title.

Yes - not surprisingly I do work in the QA field (Senior QA Lead at an online service company) and my Wife and child are all Gamers as well.

The Family that Game Together, Stay Together.*

* = Unless Wife goes all nuts and takes over a Guild in SWTOR, at which point I call myself a Gamers Widower. :)

I was part of the closed beta for Final Fantasy XIV and Soul of Ultimate Nation (SUN) Online. Both were fun experiences, required an NDA, and let me put my problem solving to the test. I enjoyed it. Early taste of the game while at the same time ensuring that as many bugs/etc got reported.
