That is the idea. If you get stuck on a rule just wing it until you have time to research it. It is more imortant to have fun then it is to be a rules lawer. My group has been gaming for the last 15 years and we have a couple "House Rules"

I figured we'd start with the quick start rules first. Work our way up from there. At our boardgame gatherings involving alcohol it's all I trust us with being able to learn/play

Local gaming sight is about 10 minutes away at a 45 year old bachelor permakid's house that is better outfitted for gaming than a FASA casino concept ever could be.
I was thinking of ordering the box set to start my kid's gaming experience with and so I can get rid of those blasted Pokemon cards his aunt hooked him on. Anyone have an opinion on it?

I play the RPG versions of Battletech (which is now: A Time of War), not the wargame versions, so my experience has always been different. I prefer characters over 'toons', and tech manuals are just good for the flavour text.
On a side note, has anyone purchased the 25 years of battletech artwork book? Big thing, but it was worth the money.

Side Note: Looking for any tank or mech minis I can get my hands on.
