I recently reconfigured my CTF-4X to 4 ac/2. I wanted to get a really rapid rate of fire, so i tried chain fire and it seamed to me that i cound'nt get more than 4 shot per sec even if i clicked fast , real fast. So i set up 2 group with 2 ac/2 and chain fired them simultaneously but my damage output seemed low compared to firing 4 ac/2 alpha holding down the key.

Is there a known bug or some thing about ac/2 rate of fire and chain firing? it seem to work ok when i just just hold the alpha trigger tough.

there's often is a .5 second delay on chain fire it seems, noticed it on my cicada with 3 medium pulse lasers, sometimes chainfire switches instantly, other times I have to wait, dunno why.

with the dakkaphract it's best to not chainfire.

Well you could manual chain your dakkah, can't remember which thread it is in but the concept it to force 3 ac2 into cool down in rapid succession then hold down the group fire with all four, which would fire off shot the moment they come out of cool down.

I do it with my dragon, triple dakkah! I can only imagine 4 being even more consistent stream of fire.

Note that it used to be a killer because of the cockpit shaking effect, which no longer is the case now, however the smoke and explosion from it on the cockpit still is pretty prominent (going into heat vision solves this problem) as well as the damage builds up SLOWLY over time, and depending on your aim your shots typically will get spread out. Heat build up is also a concern.

Oh and finally I think the rate of fire of AC/2 kind of got whonky since the ballistic weapon jamming fix some time ago. I used to overheat much faster before that, now it is even hard to overheat.

ACs (esp AC/2) are bugged, don't use them

Some important things to note with AC2 fire and the bug mentioned earlier:

Quote

It will of course be worst if you are constantly clicking fire. More messages first set to server and then received back.
REVIEW : On the server the bullets fire normally at a constant rate of fire, you are just not witnessing this on clients.

The server registers the constant rate of fire, even if you're not seeing it in your client.

Also, I noticed that the in-game chain fire has a delay slightly longer than the actual cooldown rate. I'm not sure if this can be said of all weapons or just for AC2s.

When using multiple AC2s, what I recommend doing is splitting them in to 2 different weapon groups and do NOT set them to chain fire.
While holding down the key for firing the first group, start holding down the second one in the middle of the first group's cool down period. This allows for a chain fire type of effect without performing a macro based chain fire (if available with your keyboard/mouse software) or an in-game chain fire.
Performing a macro based chain fire makes you susceptible to the above bug.
