Forgive me, I am sure this has been asked before, but what does a Command Console do for you? I just bought my first Atlas and I see it in the head...

thanks

Command Module allows you to type in yellow text and lead your unwashed pugs to victory! Oh yeah and put little symbols on the map.

It's just a placeholder at the moment like life support and sensors. Eventually it might do something.

Ermm...life support and sensors are not place holders. They already do do something already. Your mech is a sealed environment with a self contained life support system, that's how you survive on a toxic volcanic planet like Caustic Valley and in the sub zero temperatures of Frozen City. Sensor are just what they sound like, your targeting sensors, thermal vision, night vision, damage indicators etc.

Ummm...right.

It's a good thing they take up crit slots and can't be destroyed though. If only they made the rest of the mech out of that material. :D

Nope, anyone can do that, you just have to be the first to hit the "take command button"

Excuse me sir, do you refer to the console or the pilot?

Posts like this really go to show how poorly documented the various obscure details of this game are.

As of now the Command Console provides +1 pilot module slot. So, where the other Atlas variants have 3 available, the command console gives a 4th for the AS7-D-DC

Clearly the console, very few mechs are capable of holding your mother.

If the pilot weighs 3 tons, you have bigger things to worry about.

Actually, that is also wrong, the command console really does do nothing, the D-dc has 3 modules slots, whether or not it has the cc. Other atlas have 2 module slots.

Currently, it doesn't do anything. You just have it inside your mech because the stock mech configuration as it was defined in the table top had a command console.

In the table top game, the Command Console granted an initiative bonus. That's not something you can translate into this game.

Maybe it should act as a "back up cockpit" - if your head slot gets destroyed, you can still keep fighting. Giving the player an extra module slot could also be a neat effect (but not with the current modules.)

Sigh, noobs!
It adds the facility for an extra module slot when fitted. nothing more, nothing less.
