Matches are 8 players a side and welcome to MWO.

Welcome! yes, matches are currently limited to 8 vs 8, but the devs are currently testing 12 vs 12 also, but no info on when that will be available.

No time soon because the 8vs8 has a lot of problems they are failing to resolve, specifically rubber banding at mid range pings and from ECM. These would only be made worse in larger sizes.
