I'm not talking about manually overriding the shutdown and powering back up after you've overheated before you're supposed to - I'm talking about what shuts you down in the first place.
Presumably, it's some computer system that says "Stop! If I get any hotter, I'm going to explode!" and so forces the Mech to power down - if only for a moment - so as to avert disaster.
What if you gave pilots the ability to turn off that mechanism completely? If the player so chooses, they would have no more auto shutdowns, having removed the safeguard.
The catch would be that your heat readout would peak at 100% (so you wouldn't know how far beyond 100 you are), but if you got yourself up to, say, I don't know, 104%, you would explode.

Let Us Turn Off The Automatic Heat Shutdown?

it´s an emergency system that prevents the reactor from corebreach... the moment the mech shuts down is the very last moment before armageddon (literally)... if you COULD disable it, the only result would be death...so why? overriding is risk enough

No, its necessary and somewhat realistic. Learn to manage your heat and it wont be a problem

some mechs, on an alpha strike could spike up to say 150% or more... if you turned off the auto shutdown entirely then you would just explode instantly... you can already override the shutdown and get back up quicker (also risking damage), so would I ever want or use something that turned it off entirely? no, because chances are, if I've auto-shutdown it's precisely because I've just done a massive alpha to try to land a killing blow on an enemy
if you are shutting down all the time from firing 1 medium laser then just try being more aware of your heat bar

Removing it would basically mean you'd die instead of shutting down. Why would you prefer that?

Here's Heat from Battletech, that trifling little 30 year old game that the mechwarrior games IP are built on.
Heat level
30 Shutdown
28 Ammo Exp. avoid on 8+ (means dice roll)
26 Shutdown, avoid on 10+
25 -5 Movement points (or minus 50 kph translated to MW terms)
24 +4 modifier to fire (your weapons)
23 Ammo Exp. avoid on 6+
22 Shutdown, avoid on 8+
20 -4 MP (again minus 40 kph)
19 Ammo exp. Avoid on 4+
18 Shutdown, avoid on 6+
17 +3 modifier to fire
15 -3 MP (hopefully you can make the mental conversion by now)
14 Shutdown, avoid on 4+
13 +2 Mod to fire
10 -2 MP
8 +1 Mod to fire
5 -1 MP
We have a hugely truncated Heat scale in mechwarrior online, and without any of the drawbacks of the BT scale, but lets also turn off forced shutdowns too, so that we can run and gun (and not think) all day until we explode. That'd be cool.
Then we'd get to laugh at 6 PPC cheesers, at least.
Regardless, I know where the OP is coming from. It's a pain in the *** to shutdown and have to slap "O" just to power on again about .5-1 second before you'd come out of overheat shutdown anyway, so "O" isn't really useful.

Should probably just remove the over-ride feature instead of the shut-down safeguard. Seems like it would get rid of the complaint.
