It's not a lot, but Paul did share some insight here.

I'd chalk this up to problems rolling out the beta. Everyone can stop panicking. You haven't been locked out of the beta... yet.

Of course not. They made it pretty clear that they where only starting invites today.

Yeah, it's just that everyone is clamoring for news, and that post is buried in the thread. I figured this would draw some light to it. Hopefully the mods/devs will get a few hundred less PM's now.

I thought it was a dead give-away that they hadn't gone out yet since there hasn't been a single "I'm having trouble getting the download to work" type thread started.

And if the beta is covered by an NDA, you never will. The testers will be given access to a special part of the forum that we can't see and told not to tell anyone.

You must not have been involved in many betas-- there are ALWAYS posts to the wrong section about issues like that.

With some website exploring of the source for the site you could probably find said forums and get the message. "You do not have permission to access this forum."

Unless it's a closed beta with only 30 people currently invited. And FYI, a number. Some that the NDA still applies to since it was still early development.

Forums that are hidden from users are also hidden from web crawlers. "Some websites" do not magically have the ability to see forums or threads that they don't have permissions to view.

When you see this message, it's because the forum WAS public before a mod changed its permissions.

If it's that small I still count it as "might as well still be F&F". :o

Well, doesn't really matter what you count it as. There is a big fat press release that calls it a closed beta that's invite only. If they decide to only invite 30 people, then it's still a closed beta that's invite only.

Of course, if you read my OP and Paul's post, you'll know what I really believe.

It's so nice to see someone NOT pooping themselves in confusion over a closed beta. Kudos to you S3dition for knowing and pointing out the differences for everyone.

This has already been done back in the Great Comstar Panic of April 2012. PGI covers their tracks well....
