SRM6A+1A = 5 Tons
LL = 5 Tons

Now tell me whats better?

PPC = 10dmg, 7 tons, long range
LPL = 10, 7 tons, short range

Now tell me whats better?

ML = 5dmg, 540m range, 4 heat, 1 ton
SPL = 3 dmg, 260m range, 3 heat, 1 ton

Now tell me whats better?

In this game, a better way to handle weapon comparison is Heat per Damage, Damage per Ton and Damage per Second to get an idea what the heck is going on. With how this game is set up, Heat per Damage is probably the main stat you care about.

ML vs SPL:

ML 5 damage 4 heat = 1.25 damage per 1 heat
SPL 4 damage 3 heat = 1 damage per 1 heat

ML and SPL have the same tonnage.

ML 5 damage every 3 seconds = 1.67 DPS
SPL 3 damage ever 2.25 seconds = 1.33 DPS

So comparing ML to SPL you can tell that the game designers have again dropped the ball. The only benefit that the SPL has is that it does its damage in 1/2 second versus the ML 1 second.

Bad Game Designers = Boring Games.

They are not really comparable... but since SRMs suck at the moment, I'll defer to LL.

I've been asking for a range buff for the LPL for a while. It will fall on PGI's deaf ears for a while longer.

You know the answer as well as I do. The wub wub is too weak.

I don't see an option for Gauss + (X)PPCs vs.

PPC > LPL
ML > SPL
LL > ASRM6 (thanks to the recent trajectory change).

But really Wolves, you already knew the answers ;)

This brings us to the pulse lasers.. I think that their weight should be dropped down to
-6 tons for the LPL
-1.5 tons for the MPL
-0.75 (i know it's weird but 0.5 it's too light) for the SPL.

Doing this by keeping ranges and heat outputs, duration etc, would make them much more interesting. At the moment whenever I have 7 free tons I also have 3 free crits and a PPC it's invaluably better than an LPL. I'd take a normal LL over the pulse version any way, as I do with a nomal Medium Laser vs a SPL (and most of the times I go with a normal ML than going for a MPL).

Large pulse lasers are really good mid to close range, on chain fire. You can also easily kill lights with them. On more than one occasion I've come out of a 2 v 1 in a heavy against 2 lights and killed them both, mainly because of large pulse.
