In order to make the Machine Guns feel unique, and maybe bring a little more pain, what about making them Armour Piercing?
The would do less damage, but still have a chance at critical hitting the components for small chunks of damage.
It would mean that Dual Machine Guns would be worth something on the Spider & other fast Mechs with not much spare weight.
It's range is 90m. It wouldn't be effective to boat them in slow Mechs, because they'll just get out ranged. Lights using them are still vulnerable to SSRMs, SRMs, LB 10-X AC etc..
It's another thing to encourage team work. If you get caught alone, you're going to get hurt..
