Light is the Locust IIC
Fast and tough
Fusion engine for survivability
6heavy smalls and an ER medium to boot
Can handle a medium mech and keep a high enough modifier to be damned hard to hit

Assault is the Turkina
Anything that can rip 9.5 tons of armor off of you and can jump is just dirty
The only time I used this mech is when people would only take the biggest monsters they could every single game
This was my 'teach them a lesson' mech
2 salvos of 4adv tac 12's with HE ammo meant literally no armor on an assault chassis

I played quite a few Battletech tabletop tournaments with a Victor. The tournaments usually restricted custom mechs and variants, so only TRO primary layouts were allowed. Because of this I wanted a mech with 1.) decent armor, heavy+, 2.) mobility as the Victor is 4/6/4, 3.) ability to decapitate a mech in one shot.

The victor can hide at long ranges, then jump jet into LoS and position itself to attack mechs when they have partial cover (ie: at level 0 and behind level 1 terrain) to roll a hit on the punch location table. For some reason I was pretty lucky rolling a 6 once in a while with an AC/20 hit. :)

For casual games, I almost always opted for custom mechs, so I never used TRO designs.

Probably the Mad Dog / Vulture. It's lean, it's understated, it's a nice combination of armament and speed. The helicopter cockpit also adds to the charme.

Wait, wait! My first love, how could I forget that one? The Thor / Summoner. Yeah baby. Crooked arms and shoulder rockets, hello.

I came into Mechwarrior through Mechwarrior 3 PC demo, and in that demo I believe you piloted the Mad Cat.
For me, it's always been my favorite more or less and been the iconic Mech.
I do love the Mad Cat II.

But to be absolutely truthfully honest,
I don't have a single clue which is my favorite mech because I never found it.

This is my love. She is my baby. Energy heavy, and agile. This mech is a beast. Nova cat is my lovely lady. Closely followed by my first love, the Clan Supernova.

I have to pick one? Wow that is a hard one, I love so many. I have to say the Thunder Fox.

I love quads, durable, jump capable ones even more so.

Nova, solid armour, speedy to boot and enough fire power that anything above 50T is just another target.

Annihilator is capable of mad forms of ultraviolence :D , and it looks pretty sweet doing it. Love the pseudo retro lines, trading the traditional mech blockiness for smoother sleek curves. She’s a looker and a fighter. Needs some badass decals though.

5 Gauss rifles, 75 damage alpha at very far ranges.... problem?

Hands down the Atlas. Started with it way back on tabletop loved it ever since.

reason: its a 100 ton skull face death machine with enough armor too wade through lances of mechs and beat them too a pulp. It just for me a total Badass.

Timby the timberwolf.

75 tons. The best weight bracket. Perfect blend of speed, armour and weapons .And the fact that it's an omni makes it even better. Also, I just LOVE the looks.

Novacat.

Perhaps the only Battlemech that was never drawn ugly in its original drawing.

Posted Image

Well defined, its look makes it easy for modelers and sculptors to adhere too, which makes drawings, renderings and figures of it remarkably consistent over game to game.

In addition, it just looks bad ass.

The Novacat is a pure and simple, 70 ton heavy mech that relies on energy weapons. The moment I said that, its not hard to imagine what its like, how to equip it, and how to play it.
