I played Tabletop 25 years ago and I loved to go into combat with a Crusader or T-Bolt. I know people have much love for the Marauder, but I could often tear a Marauder down with either of these mechs despite the weight difference.

Blasphemy.

I suppose our choices don't always need to be logical. Sometimes the biggest draw is aesthetic, sometimes function. In my case, I have to give a shout out to that sniper of 'mechs, the Hollander.

Murader all the way. There was also a 100 ton version if memory served correctly, with a guass on the dorsal fin.

The archer man...Wolf's Dragoons and all that...was the first iconic mech for me when getting into it when i was a kid. After that, mad cats and battle armor suits.

Other than that yeah Hollander is sexy as f*ck, it's one of my favorite bipedal mechs, though he seems to be compensating for something :P

I would say that my favorite mech of all time would be a Shadowcat. Even if it is a bit of a glass cannon, you can't say no to a medium that has decent speed (More speed with MASC) and carries a gauss rifle and some lasers. Add jumpjets and you get a pretty good raider

Adder. The Prime variant, specifically. More firepower than many medium 'Mechs delivered with extreme accuracy from a machine that can hit 97 KP/H and mounts very nearly the maximum amount of armor possible for a 'Mech of its size. If the Adder is added to the game once the Clans invade, then depending on how the targeting computer ends up working, I may rip it out in favor of jump jets - more maneuverability (and DFA) is never a bad thing. Finally, as we've seen in the computer games, it's a very small target. Go passive, and it becomes a great scout/sniper with the ability to hide in pretty much any terrain
A close second is the Cougar B; essentially a copy of the Adder Prime, it trades the extreme accuracy and some of the speed for more backup firepower and better heat efficiency.

Hmmph... Apparently I accidentally signed in as my GDL profile. Bloody prohibition of canon units :P

Nova. One of the best all around designs ever. Simple. Versatile. Dangerous.

The Tarantula would be nice for a scout sniper role with a ER PPC and targeting system boosts, I'd like to have that covering my back, if he goes quiet he'd be hard to find, small, and quicker than stink if he needs to bug out.
Me though, I've always loved the Thor. He's ugly but when he brings his weapons to bear, its a bad day somewhere :P

You both just nailed my 2nd and 3rd decisions. Well done.

I'd have to go with my Nova Cat. Long range, lots of firepower per ton. She runs hot but that's why you keep your distance. I also like the Sunder - An example of the IS trying to bring their tech up to parity with the clans. It has good firepower and is pretty fast for its size.

The 100 tonner that resembles it would probably be the Behemoth/Stone Rhino, otherwise you may be referring to the Marauder IIC (85 tons)?

Many lovely design exits, i love the Vulture (Mad Dog), i love the Hunchback, i love the Urbanmech, i love the Thor (Summoner).

But the absolute heart of the Battletech in my eyes is the Locust.

It's because the essence of the "beginner" mech, cheap, fast, looks good, and you can easily image how a newcomer mechwarrior piloting it, because this is what he/she can obtain. And still, it's a Mech, an ordinary foot soldier and civvy fears it...

I'm glad you ask! So here comes the BADA$$(why this word censored?)! I give you The Thor (Or Summoner, whatevah dude)! This kid have enough firepower to take you out whoever you are! Tremble IS pilots!

Fine fine, let's get to the point. I first saw him in MW3 in 1999 and i liked him since, basically because of his looks, he's just cool, that's all i need. Can't wait for the clans to arrive.

Thor is badass Forgot about it :P
