Im using the mechlab to theorycraft my yen lo at the moment to come up with a new build. (im currently using the stock with a slight modification to allow an ams) However I've been wanting to give my ylw a little more dps, even though the tradeoff is less burst in general.

My question is has anyone attempted dual ac5 on ylw? and how does it perform? Im saving for a new mech atm so i dont want to sink 500k+ into new weapons if its not as good as ac/20

help? D:

Well since you can do dual A/C-5s on the Cent-D, which can use a bigger engine and missile if it wanted to, it can work, but unless it uses up all the slots in the arm, the D can do it better.

Some may argue differently but I feel standard AC/5's perform subpar in this configuration because the AC/5 recycles too slowly to continuously chain fire only 2 of them effectively. I have tested it and I personally didnt care for it. If you were able to mount 3 of them like the Ilya Muromets it would be much more effective. However you could do 2xUAC/5's but to make it effective you would probably have to go the XL engine route. I tried to build one without but I ended up sacrificing speed and armor cause I didnt have enough critical slots using both weight reduction materials to get the tonnage needed make it work.

yeah i didnt want to spend the c-bills on the d model cos i already have 3, the ylw, model a, and model al (hate the al). but that is useful information. However Im looking for more specifics in terms of whether the tradeoff from single ac/20 to dual ac/5s are worth its or if im better off with the ac/20.

So in other words itd be better to stick with the ac/20 in this case. Perfect! I like the build the way it is, but all my cents were coming off as alpha or single shot variants, in that case do you have any suggestions for one of the three i have that might allow me to turn it into a dps machine? :)

If you like the AC/20 then I would stick with it. Try the following build...

YEN-LO-WANG

It's the basic YLW modified to have more speed and ammo without adding an XL Engine. It works nicely if you play it conservatively through staying close to your team and picking targets you can help down quickly. Just remember to protect your right arm because it's the first thing people will target on your 'Mech.

thanks! ill keep that in mind as a future build target. I tend to pick and assault and act as backup to him when i play ylw. that way i do tons of damage and end up netting about 150k+ a match

I like dual UAC5 on my Hunchback, but I feel the AC20 on the YLW is a better fit for it than UAC's. Why? Speed!

With the Hunchback you pretty much have to run a standard engine, which means you'll be a bit slower. That makes the UAC's attractive because they have better range and can often serve to make your opponent back off to cover.

But with the YLW you can run XL in a safer fashion, and when you're running around pretty fast its better to snap off a quick shot, duck out to some cover, then repeat when your big gun has reloaded, thereby reducing the time you are open to return fire and reducing the chances that your main gun arm will be targeted and blown off.
