Why Does Buying Double Heat Sinks Lower Efficiency?

So I have an Atlas AS7-D (a classic =-)... I recently considered upgrading to double heat sinks, but when I selected them in the mech lab I noticed that the heat efficiency meter over on the left actually shrank from 1.4 to .87...

Is that good or bad? Does that indicate I would actually lose heat dissipation for some reason?

If not seems like it would be a good fit for me since I have lots of open slots in my arms that arn't being used, and I overheat like crazy if I rail on my medium lasers for a few seconds.

Can someone give me advice or explain this?

Thanks!

It removes all the regular heatsinks when you upgrade to double.

As Mantle mentioned, it removes your single heat sinks without letting you know what the equivalent would be for double heat sinks.

Make sure you have plenty of critical slots to upgrade to dual heat sinks. Or you might find yourself reverting back to single heat sinks.

3 critical slots per dual heat sink. If you have 8 single heat sinks, I rather doubt you have the room to change to dual heat sinks, without sacrificing other critical slots. Depends on where your hard points are and what you have equipped in them.

Okay I understand thanks for your input.

One more question on this subject, it looks like i would have room for 4 double heat sinks (using the extra space in my arms). Also I could mount a fifth if I move most of my ammo from the right torsos into my legs. I know I used to do that in BattleTech, and it's usually a good idea since the Atlas has so much armor on the legs it makes an ammo critical unlikely.

If I move the ammo down into my legs and have 5 double heat sinks instead of 8 standard would that be worth it? I know a DHS is 1.4 a single, but I'm not sure how the default engine heat sinks are treated.

Thanks!

I believe it has been mentioned that the engine heat sinks are treated as double.

If you can afford taking the hit to test it out, I would recommend it. (If you have 10 million waiting for you, and do not intend to buy another mech for awhile, I'd say try it out)

As I am terrible with math, I cannot answer this one appropriately.
