I'm not saying this to brag about my performance. I'm saying this to offer some advice to those who may not routinely do this in the hopes that it levels the playing field for you.
Does the lagshield need to be fixed? Absolutely, but there's a workaround until it is. It may not completely make up for the bug, but it sure makes them seem a whole lot less invulnerable.

So you've never seen the crosshair turn red when lag shooting and the Raven puppet model not registering any damage what so ever? Never seen the AC , PPC, Gauss rounds "hit" and crosshair get red and no damage register on a raven? I have - much too often, that's why I don't even try any more.

Yes, it can happen. It's more rare, but it can happen. When it does, I simply fish for the spot where I see their paper doll flash damage and then make a mental note of it. Yes, that's annoying too, but it's not impossible to deal with.

Ultimately, I'm just not a light mech pilot. It's not my style.

Finally mastered all of my Jenners. Solo pugging I have a 1 win to 2 loss ratio. After experiencing a 2*4person premade vs our solo's I decided to try out the raven3l. The difference is like night and day. I now win 3/4 matches with a newb mech. The rubberbanding is gone and I can easily solo any other light mech out there except for other 3l pilots with more xp..

Been doing this more recently and while it can be tricky to do sometimes it's so satisfying. I've had light pilots complain about it but all I do is laugh.
As a light pilot i hate it...but its a valid tactic..as some shed leg armor to make that extra streak fit.
If i see a light with low leg armor i'll leg em...can't blame others for doing the same...but i still do.

Today I was second to last to die and observed our lone Commando vs the remaining 3 mechs (1 Atlas, 1 Flame, 1 Cent). Mind you my ping was ~110 and this Commando's was ~40, and I watched him via spectator, and it was like a strobe light nothing was smooth on his end and his speed was only something like 110kph. And you know what he did (he already had a kill under his belt when I popped but he was lightly damaged) he Streaked the crap out of the poor Atlas barely getting hit, the Cent may as well have not been there since he just stood on the cap (literally no evasion) and didn't fire at the Commando, so he was obviously going to die, then vs the Flame which was pretty quick, they danced around the map, the Commando long using up its Streaks he killed this Flame, from ~80% health with his small laser, the only thing he had left. And the only thing the Commando had to show for it? A yellow left torso and arm. It was pretty unbelievable, the match summary showed this pilot was second in damage only to our Atlas...
yea, with the last minipatch it´s even got more ridicolous, sit in your raven and try it

In other words - learn to shoot.
