It's in the mechlab, every time you switch between your mechs in the lab it takes more and more of your video card memory and doesn't release it.

Try running MSI afterburner and you can see it yourself if you have the onscreen display set to display video memory.

That might be *a* memory leak (and the 4 FPS bug seems to hit me frequently after I change mechs, so it makes sense), but it's not the only one, as I'll hit 4 FPS eventually even if I stay on the same mech for many matches in a row.

Memory leak without changing mechs here too but it could be a Windows XP issue?

If you consider that you are "changing" (as in, loading the info for that mech) mechs each time you finish a match it would help explain why anyone can get it after a while, but the people that change mechs several times before dropping into a game get it faster.

Not sure if that is accurate, just thinking out loud.

It isn't necessarily the mech bay per se as this happens ingame more often than not and I don't personally keep changing between mechs in the mech lab.

It also doesn't explain why the 4 fps bug seems to get temporary relief by looking away from all other mechs/random direction ingame.

From this behaviour I'd guess it's probably some kind of mech texture/VRAM problem or something...

Needs shifting up in priority that's for sure, game is literally unplayable slideshow when it kicks in.

I would say that as a general rule of thumb, if i run the same mech with no changes, i can play all night.

If i make mech changes it happens faster.

i think it is more related to changing loadouts than it is to mechs.

*related holy heck

The leak isn't caused just by you changing mechs, every mech you see in game ever contributes to it, so you will eventually get 4fps if you play long enough without crashing or restarting no matter what.

Whenever I get the 4fps bug and close the client after the match, I notice that there is a runtime error. It only happens after the FPS bug.

Anyone else get that, is it old info or something new that might be useful to the DEVS?

It's a known issue.

Just curious...

Occasionally If / When I get the 4FPS bug and I exit out of the game my screen does the awesome "turn off Areo theme" (Where is switches to the basic non-Aero ) nonsense.

Happen to anyone else?

Tbh if you just leave it on the logged in screen without even entering the mechlab tab for 10-15 mins+ you will likely have fps bug. Playing more often with less time in the launch screen will reduce the frequency of your fps bugs

I've noticed that if I make any changes to a mech and then immediately launch into a match with that mech I CTD. I've taken to restarting the game after I make any changes.

I've also had a bit of luck restarting after about 4 or 5 matches.

Still get CtDs but not as frequently.

BTW: The 4 fps bug is insane. I had it happen for the first time yesterday (after 100+ games without it)...it's MWO on drugs, isn't it? Every mech blurs as it seems that time is going slower.

What if this is no bug? I think some of the devs at PGI just got a little bit too creative at around 3am in the morning smoking his lil green creativity stimulant.

So what about those who have never had the 4FPS bug, on 1.5GB cards, 3GB cards and 4GB cards.

I would actually like to know you is getting the 4 FPS bug and what video card they are running. I run an ATI 6970, and very seldom have any issues, and have never had the 4 FPS bug. I have black screened a couple times in since the patch last month, but yellow screen and mech lab crashes are gone.

Who here is getting 4 FPS bug, and is running Nvidia?
