I remember some years ago a game called "Chrome hounds" which took building your mech to a whole 'nother level. Is it going to be similar? I would like to see chassis that are quad, that are wheeled, and that are like that of a tanks (forgot the name) instead of all just plain ole bipedal builds. will we be "building" our mech? or will me just be swapping out weapons which is where mech games have been for 10 years already.
Quad and rolling chassis

Chromehounds is a good game, but its system of mech design just does not work for Battletech. We are going to be ordinary pilots - to do the sort of thing that Chromehounds lets you do, our characters would all have to be pretty much certified geniuses with unlimited resources, access to a 'Mech production facility, and either intimate knowledge of Battlemech design (which would take a lifetime to learn, leaving no time for training as a pilot) or pretty much unlimited access to someone that does. And then we would get to wait literally weeks (since the game is going to be on a 1:1 time ratio) until we got our 'Mech. We will be limited to swapping out weapons and equipment, maybe armor or engines, and that's it - and that is good, within the context of the universe. Quad mechs would be nice, as those canonically exist within Battletech canon, but there should not be any wheeled or tracked 'Mechs - that is what tanks are for.
