I'm trying to unlock elite with my AS7's and I want to get one of these 2 next. If anyone has any constructive input on the advantages of each model over the other or any build suggestions. At a glance, I'm leaning towards the RS, but since I haven't played either, I figured I'd ask around first.

RS, Its a pretty awesome mech. the K only has 1 balistics and one missile slot. The RS has 2x missile and 1x ballistic slot. The argument for the K is that it has 2x ams. I think it's way overpriced for what you are getting in an atlas.

Yeah, that's why I thought I'd ask. The price difference lead me to believe the K had some kind of magic power that made it better or something.

2 Energy hardpoints in each arm is pretty great.
You can easily make a LLAS boat that sports 4 LLAS and 24 DHS, as well as max armor, AMS and a 350 engine.
The arms are a bit lower, so you have to poke your head out more, but they make up for it in their otherwise huge range of motion and precision.
There are also other builds out there, that are slower but add a Gauss or PPCs for even better long range bombardment.
I'm really looking forward to the heat buffs for PPCs and ERLLAS and LPLAS next patch.... should really help out the RS!

If you ever need a XL 300, the Atlas K is a relatively cheap way to to get it (in a two birds, one stone sense), even if it does cost 3million more Cbills than the other Atlas varients. Some of that cost is due to ER Large lasers and Gauss.
If you don't have any needs for an XL 300, then I'd say go for the Atlas RS.

The Atlas K just costs more because of the XL Engine, like all other variants with stock XLs.
However, in the K.... IMHO it is a waste and just makes you way more fragile, so most people take out the XL engine.
Don't sell it though, as tempting as it is... that XL is still useful in other mechs and you actually get it at a savings compared to buying it separately.
The double AMS is nice, but IMHO the K gives up too much. I guess originally they thought 2x AMS would be really good so they cut things elsewhere for balance.... but experience proved that didn't really pan out.
Meanwhile, the new Stalker gets the 5S with 2x AMS and the exact same hardpoints as the 3F. The only thing it gives up is torso twist range, which is fine.
I like the 3F as the dedicated brawler, and the 5S as the long range support for that reason.
