I actually find dual UAC5s pretty cool... even when they don't jam, lol.
They are actually my cooldown weapon, hahaha.
The spread is.... really up to the pilot. If you are a good shot it is pretty precise.
They do jam... but their uptime more than makes up for it, and that's why you have 2 MLAS and 3 SRM6s.
I will agree about the exposure time though. It's really tempting to just stay facing the target, especially when you are winning the lottery on UAC5 jams and just spewing pure death.
That just makes the skill barrier higher, IMHO. You need to know when to twist to spread damage against you, and it's much harder than an AC20 Atlas who just shoots his load then has 4 seconds to play the twister.
But my god... when those UAC5s are humming along..... things melt. Way quicker than with an AC20.
It's a very fine line though, because that damage becomes addicting and can get you killed if you don't still defend your CT.
I'm still learning that trick, so for me I went with something similar to Indoorsman's Alt DDC build.
2 LLAS, 2 UAC5s and 3 SSRM2s.
I've found more success with this, as I can dish out more damage from range as I'm trying to figure out where best to jump in.
I'm still learning to pilot the SLOOOOOOW Assault mechs, so it's nice to have a little time before launching into the melee.
The 3 SSRM2s seem like a waste, and if I had nothing else I would agree.... but they compliment the LLAS and UAC5s very well, and are brilliant against light ECM mechs.
They also do respectable damage against any other mech that gets close... 15 damage that I don't have to worry about aiming while also using my UAC5s and LLASs.
I love it.
Still going to give this build another go once I get Speed Tweak and a bit better at piloting my Assaults.
EDIT: I'll agree about the 2 LBX-10s though. 22 tons is a lot for a slight advantage against lights, and a poor AC20 against everything else. But I haven't tried it yet, so who knows... might change my tune when I do.
