I just had a brainwave marketing concept. Totally not related to the most succesfull game on the console market today.

I feel reluctant to buy myself into MWO. I want to make C-bills and then buy stuff. its even a challenge to NOT use MC, but just C-bills and still play well.

So if more players feel like that, no money for further development.

Enter the Skylander franchise marketing concept. Do i need to explain?

Tabletop models already exist. You just need to create a mechlab model, with a scanner/photocamera. Buy the next Mech in the toystore/online, put it in your mechlab at home and it appears in your game. Use the existing Mechlab in the game for upgrades and weaponry.

But you'd have cool models of the mechs you really love. AND you could play it ingame.

TAKE MY MONEY! People tend to like real stuff. Id love the combo of virtual/real mechs.

Is it just me? Or would you guys think this to be a really good way to generate money. And to keep developing new mechs.

I'm hoping to see metal miniatures of the MWO mechs. Ironwindmetals is a great company and have already adopted every tech readout and even the dark age designs into mini form. Here's to hoping they make the MWO versions!

Cool Idea.

Don't know how workable it is right now but for after release content this should be at the top of the list. I have seen a few threads with players own artwork for mechs . Custom designed mech skins mmmmm sounds good their crunchy tooo

what I want to do is a kickstarter for a company to buy all the rights to the BT universe, then create a massive MMORPGSIM combining the best elements of WoW, Galaxies, WAR & MechWarrior.

Imagine a game of space battles, massive mech / tank / aircraft & infantry scenarios, weapon crafting, mechanics. would be amazing, and huge in it's scope.

If you can afford $1.3m, you can have a "Mech" for real.

Of course, it's in Japan :)

I agree.

Here's the company that does it.
http://www.figureprints.com/

I think it'd be a good partnership. Be fun to send in your mech with your camo and have a figure to put on your desk.

@Penance: real good idea. Id love that.

My idea is a bit simpler, even if we couldnt use custom camo but just a barcode scanner under the mechmodels feet. its proven technology, not that hard to implement.

And the businessmodel is proven too.

I'm not sure I'm reading your idea right, but you couldn't just buy any old tabletop model and scan it and have it appear in the game, that'd be rubbish and wouldn't work

if you mean PGI producing models of their designs then I don't think they'd have the rights to make models either

@apoc1138 valid point, but I wasnt referring to battletech models, just models created to the mechs in This game. Die cast or plastic. With a barcode under their feet, for easy recognition by camera. Really, just check out skylanders, it could be exactly the same.

But your point about rights could be blocking. Although, if they are allowed tot create mechs in-game, it wouldt be much of a leap tot out-game mech models, exclusively tot mwo.
