I know the symbol is purple, but I was just reading Ideal War and the Knights of the Inner Sphere had red and black paint schemes from Marik. Guess that is a different thing from regular Marik troops... (?)

Purple's the primary color for most of the Marik Militia units, but not all units within the FWLM use the same colors. The 4th Regulan Hussars, for example use brown, tan and maroon:
