There are a lot of first person shooters out there. Simulators, on the other hand, are much more rare. Mech simulator even more so. That is why we, or at least I, play MWO.
Right now, MWO feels too much like a first person shooter. My suggestion is; slow down the game a bit (say 10%). That would make it feel more like a simulator.

I sort of miss my 2x Large Pulse Laser + 2x UAC2 Mad Cat Mk.2, running around at 70+ KPH.
Sign me up on the shooter end of the spectrum. Shooting is more engaging than simulating.
OOO! Brilliant idea!
As tonnage goes up, make it more simulator-esque! Because the mechs are slower! Everyone is happy!

Right now, this is a hybrid between simulation and FPS. Being a hybrid is vital for the success due to simulators typically not being a big draw for online gaming.

Yes, I get that first person shooters are the big sellers out there. But what I am asking is that they make this one for the real MechWarrior fans, and make the game to be in tune with its original concept.
If they make just another FPS, fine, they will be competing for market shares with hundreds and hundreds of games out there. If they make it a real mech simulator, they will have virtually all MechWarrior and BattleTech fans in their bag. And make a unique game.

I'm a battletech fan. I like it how it is now, and don't see the appeal of making it slower.
That said, it'd be fun if they could just put in a mode called "Canon," which makes every weapon conform to tabletop standards, firing once per 10 seconds, using tabletop stats. It'd be completely voluntary.
