allow to us to self destruct at will (possibly as a last resort close range weapon), also disable auto ejection for the pilots who choose an honorable death haha
in mw2 it was ctrl-alt x i believe and ctrl-alt e to eject (ctrl e disabled autoeject)

Yes to the disable auto-eject, no to the self destruct.

'mechs will never be permadead and neither will pilots; you keep your 'mech and have to repair all the damage done to it back in the Mechlab after the round is over. So for that reason alone, no.
The second reason is self-destruct always turns into griefer hell. For those of you that do not remember the 4xHigh Explosive loaded Catapults from vanilla MW4, I envy you.

Don't worry, if you want to blow up just tell me. I'll shoot you.

Allow self destruct without any option for repair - you have to buy a new one. Good way to empty you mech hangar

I would like to add something to Karl Streigers point.
If selfdestruction is possible, then at the loss of the mech and all pilot achievements and experience. I've taken a look at the tabeltop rules for it, and there is no way a pilot would survive this, even if he ejects. He will land directly behind the mech he ejected from and will be killed by the blast of the engine. Even the smallest possible engine will make sure of that.
Autoejection on and off is a different matter. It's in the rules and it wouldn't harm to have it ingame. Or at least, I see no harm in it. If someone does, please enlighten me.

Fusion reactors should not ALWAYS blow up so spectacularly. There should be a probability matrix for the game that chooses a random event (the critical explosion or a pop and a dead mecha)

Self destruct and mech should blow up when destroy harming those around you (frind or enemys) but losing mech over it i belive not, not without insurrence covering 90% or something, but depending on how endgame gonner be losing mech or pilot exp would probely halte some of the fun making ppl only do long range lrm battle to survie

Nuclear rectors do not explode when damaged (except in Michael Bay films). This makes no sense.

spam O as you get close to your 100% heat and you can successfully self destruct without it even gioing into shut down mode.
