Best Investment So Far?

Bought a Jenner and replaced the SRM-4 with a Streak-2 and put in 4 Sm Pulse Lasers. Runs hella fast of course and is tons of fun. Dueling Ravens is a blast.
After two days of that I bought a Cicada. Piles in 4 MGs and lots of armor and now I scream around the battlefield like a mad fighter pilot.
So,,,for your C-Bills what has been your best investment so far? What gives you the most fun for the buck?

I'm with you on Cicadas, though the build you describe is the one chassis I don't run. Give the CDA-2A a try if you haven't... I run mine with an XL300, 5ML, and a TAG. Best mech in my stable for sure.
But if I have to say my best overall MWO purchase, I think it was probably the Founder's package, though I know that's not exactly what you had in mind, OP. All that premium time and MC has come in handy. It's kind of what you were getting at, though, in terms of the Founder's mechs: each of them are chassis that I'd like to elite, so I've got one of my three chassis sitting and waiting (just finished Cats after Mastering Cicadas and Awesomes, moving on to Hunchies next). It's great for grinding to be working on a mech that gets an additional bonus (the Founder's bonus on the Cat was very nice!).

In most MW games I drive an Awesome, but I didn't really enjoy the two I tried on MWO (although I'ma give it another go after I finish eliting the Atlasi), but the Cats really did it for me. I've built and rebuilt the thing a dozen times, running as AC-Cat, Gauss Cat, split weapons and the 4xLL-Cat (my current build). The thing has always been a workhorse for me and it's pretty much the default mech I pick if it's off cooldown.
Special bonus points for the Atlas-D-DC and the Raven-3L, I think we all know why. I particularly like my LPL + 2x ML Raven. Does 81 kph in reverse, packs a whallop and has ECM, hard to beat that.

It's got a piddly apha-strike but when I need to reach our and suppress a base rush I love unleashing the 3 AC/5s in chain and finish off with my EPPC...
Also with my premium coupled with Hero bonus I rake in the c-bills and XP like they are going out of style...

I should try your loadout. I run mine with 2 AC/10 and a few MLs. It's not quite what I hoped for.

I second this. The 4 LL Flame running at 100 km/h with full armour, just too damned fun. It's the only hero mech I purchased ( not so keen on ballistics with the current netcode so I stayed away for Ilya ) and it is great. The only gotcha is, now that I've mastered them, I see very little reason to keep any of the other dragon chassis, Flame just seems hands down superior. I regularly score between 300 and 800 damage, and 2+ kills with this mech. That said, I play as a skirmisher and use my speed to get away from fights... thats the key to success.
Now bang for the buck efficiency right now is a 3l Raven with a 295XL engine, 2x SSRM. For less than the cost of a stock Atlas, you can beat the crap out of any mech in the game. I regularly see 3L pilots topping the leaderboard, with 900+ damage. I dont play this build anymore though, easy mode isn't my thing. It's a shame too, as the 3L was my fav Raven before ECM dropped.

I like it because the 5s in chain "almost" hit a sweet spot for continuous fire (with little to no heat penalty) and I can irritate the hell out of an opposing Mech and keep them at bay. I also have another button mapped to alpha these three 5s giving a healthy 15 point "love tap" when necessary. Paired with the EPPC, so long as I can keep the enemy at arms length, I fair pretty well most of the time.
,,, I get lights on my butt or I let the enemy close in too quickly, this build begins to show it's weaknesses.
This is my Sniper / LRM Boat suppression Mech.

My personal favourite mech and best investment so far has been my Ilya. What's funny is that it took me a while to learn to play it in an acceptable fashion, having deviated to my Raven 3L for a while (and then mastering the other Ravens) until I got utterly sick of the 2 ML 2 SSRM combo. I currently run the Ilya with dual gauss rifles and 3 medium lasers and score anywhere from 300-600 damage a match depending on how situationally unaware I am. Sadly this means I have to master the other Cataphract variants which I consider vastly inferior to the Ilya.
