I am not normally one to complain, and this issue wouldn't be one to normally tick me off enough to say anything, but SEVERAL times today pilots are DC'ing when they are a second or two from getting finished off and it's annoying as hell.

I know they do it to prevent a death to help their "ratio" but as far as I know, no one can view anyone's k/d stats other than their own right?

I do know that It's crap taking away a kill from the player that ends up killing a "D/C' mech, just because he is a jerk, I lose any bonus for the kill? even if it's not much.....

I hate it when they do that, but you must admit, it's all the sweeter when you manage to kill them a split second before they DC.

Um, doesn't it cause a death stat-wise anyways?

All you are doing is depriving someone of the kill. Which frankly, in the face of cheese, is about the only recourse you've got.

Best recourse when facing a "cheese" build would be to kill the pilot, this game is Rock/Paper/Scissors...... everyone has their weakness.....even ECM lights

Good luck in the face of a murder of ECM Ravens.

Even a mech configured as a light killer with Pulse Lasers, SRMs and LBXAC10s is screwed in the face of an ECM Raven, especially 4 of them.

a flock of ECM Ravens is indeed OP, but in single use or duo's, they can be dealt with

Everyone that kills me is using a cheese build.

And ofc stats are public.....

.........when you've padded them up, boasted about it on forums, then put a screenie in your sig for epeen reasons.

Sometimes.

I swear on occasion I've run into invulnerable Ravens. I have literally poured 4xLL into a Raven for 5+ minutes and it walked away.

Odd part is, other then getting a killshot on a mech earlier ( a single alpha ), the Raven was the only mech I fought. At the end of match I was shown having 700 damage that fight... so, somehow the raven soaked up @ 670 damage, without even going red. I've had similar experiences, where I've put multiple alphas into a raven that ran into a wall, to see it shrug it off.

If there is a secret to killing them, I dont know it.

I've never done it and bet my k/d owns everyone that has ever done this.

Where I am tempted to DC is in the face of epic fail. You know those matches where the matchmaker starts if 8v5. Or where you have two Atlases that do banzai suicide charges 16 seconds in. In these cases I would just as soon disconnect and get on to a match that might actually be fun. Additionally in the face of a cheese ***** 8-man sync drop that failed, so you have 4 guys DCing right away... I HATE THAT.

That said, I still play the match as I dont care about my stats and dont want to screw my teammates even more. I rarely have fun though... thus the tempatation. Getting killed in 12 seconds by focused fire is never entertaining.

On occasion too those 8v6 matchs can be recovered, if you happen to drop with some amazing pugs. We had it yesterday, where we turned an 6v8 match around, got 6 kills with 3 mechs still alive, then a chickens#$ in a Raven did a cap victory. Cap victorying against a team two men down... so lame. His own team were yelling at him for it.

They should make it so if your mech fired off any lasers/missiles/bullets then being killed counts regardless if you Dc'ed or not. This way people who crash on launch don't suffer, Dc'ers still get the death and you get your kill.

Again... doesn't it count as a death if you DC, i'm pretty sure I've read it does. The only thing that happens is your killer doesnt get a kill, nor assists.

Really? Well I wasn't aware of that
Even so they should make it so a mech that was in combat counts for a kill regardless of whether the pilot dc's or not.

I had to alt+F4 in a fight today, but it was not to avoid a death (I get killed plenty, so avoiding one would make no difference). I had a phone call from the hospital about my Father who is currently there. If anyone readng this was in that match, I appologize for leaving the way I did, but the call was far more important than the game.

Inspired by this thread, I just exited when an ECM Raven 3L started circling me and pelting my Dragon with streaks. It was impossible to damage it with laser fire, so I waited until my CT was getting low then just hit ALT-F4. If he's going to game the game, then so can I :D.

I think the gripe is when you are about to get the kill on someone you were fighting and then they disco....
