The clan mechs will be better but here's an idea for balance. Make a star (5 clan mechs) fight 2 lances of inner sphere mechs. Being out numbered would make up for the tech difference.

Clans.... always outnumbered... never outgunned. Yeah it should be like 12 IS v 8 Clan

Community split = No.

You will not be seeing Clan and IS on the same team.

Sorry. Simply no.

We won't really be split. I'm guessing you won't have to choose one or the other for you account, but have access to different mech labs or something similar.

And you're wrong. How do I know you're wrong?

Because people will have to elect to play against Clan Mechs, which means they won't.

Which means that everyone who wants to use Clan Mechs will be waiting a long, long time before they can find a match.

This is called splitting the community.

I would like it to be this way. You can still play either side depending on the mech you choose for that round. Choose a clan mech, you're in a clan que, pick an IS mech the MM will place you in an IS que. Battles would then be IS v IS, IS v Clan, Clan v Clan (at random). This will make the issue of how many in the community wants to play one or the other irrelevant. And besides there will always be people wanting to play both sides. You still see the Awesome and other "non-meta" mechs on the battlefield don't you. People play what they have fun with (at least many do).

Another idea.... timeline skip to the 3060s. Then anyone can use whatever and IS tech will be, in some areas, comparable to clan tech.

Also rotary autocannons.

Simpler idea: Clan Mechs take up two player slots.

Superior tech will fall to superior levels of focus fire.

Honestly it'd have to be 12 IS vs 5 Clan to be reasonably balanced.

Also, clan pilots should lose money for assists.

If that's your idea of balance then I have to giggle.

Because that's dumb.

Clans can make mechs that completely literally one-shot Atlas's CT. :P

My idea would be to have built-in voicecoms with a vote button. People who have annoying nasally voices, scratchy mic, shout into the mic, talk too much about their real life, etc, can be voted down, so they only get to play inner sphere mechs.

Their game experience deserves to be ruined.

Actually, the Clans play solo. Those who don' get stuck with sucky mech in the second line. :P

And then goes in overheat shutdown for a long time.
Already calculated that, the C-ER-PPC has the same Heat/Damage ratio as the standard PPC. You simply CAN't fire more then 4 C-ER-PPC's at once without overheat. Maybe with some tricks 5... but not 6... And you would need 6 for 90 DMG.
But of course two shooting an Atlas is still an option and you maybe won't even go in overheat then like the Hexstalker does.

Clan mechs can play clan mechs. Explain your logic again?

They have said in an NGNG interview that they are experimenting with a way to introduce the honour code of the Clans.

I would expect significantly less rewards at the end of a match if you, the player breaks the honour code before the opponents do.

No. Nobody will have to wait. But the Clan Invasion doesn't mean that warfare between Inner Sphere powers have to cease. And Clans, while invading IS, are also known for constant warfare between Clans. So each team can be exclusively composed either from Clan mechs or from IS mechs, but possible matches are not only Clan team vs IS team, but also IS team vs IS team and Clan team vs Clan team. So even if everybody will switch to playing Clans, they will just fight another Clans instead of waiting forever for some IS victim to abuse, that's all.

We'll probably all end up in the same que. IS and Clan to avoid Clanners simply picking on IS opponents.
