what's curious to me is that people have been thinking they've missed anything. most early closed betas I've been in the servers aren't even up most of the week. usually a couple evenings a week. I seem to recall reading they turned the servers on on fridays in the F&F beta.

I think if any of the Devs are reading the forums and seeing all this Beta angst, that they should take it for what it is: pure, unadulterated excitement for their new baby!!! :D

I choose to look at it this way: Each day that I don't get picked is another day I can play MechCommander2. I've played all the MW games and MC games a thousand times each but beta or no, I'm going to play Mech games. As my wife can testify to.

That being said I'd rather play MWO :D

Remember when you had to actually participate in the BETA. You know, weekly reports/feedback, or you lose your access? Bug reports. Now people expect to be in the BETA and don't provide any quality return. Sigh.

I remember. Also, I test games on a day to day basis, so it's my job. :D

OP, haven't you heard? The interwebs was invented so that people could demand instantaeneous information from companies. I mean, before the interwebs, people actually had to wait for a company to release information to the Wall Street Journal or a monthly gaming magazine. That could be weeks! But with the interwebs, I can demand a minute by minute account of the CEO's bathroom habits, and if I don't get it, I'm going to take my lunch money elsewhere.

Well 3 weeks ago or so i had no friggin idea Mechwarrior was so advanced as it is now.

All i did was just check a bit of info here and there to see if any more news but nothing. This last weeks the joy and escitement to see how advanced the game is and get an even *soon* release date just made it all better.

So well if i get in the Beta there is work to do (you can enjoy the game/drool while reportedly doing your job) if not just hope PGI release more and more goodies until the final date and be patient.

P.S: on a side note PGI it's not really experienced with online games i think, some mistakes until they finally get the grasp handling some of this things may be related.

If/when I get into beta I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop where people are complaining about how buggy and unpolished the game is. Age of Conan was horrible with that.

Okay.

I appreciate the fact that the anticipation in finding out if you are part for the closed beta is so thick around here you can cut it with a safety knife... There seems to be a growing trend of taking back handed pokes at PGI for what is perceived as over-reaching intentions and mismanagement of this beta process...

While I don't know these PGI fellas from Adam... I can assure you they are not intentionally screwing with your minds and playing with your emotions. They more than anyone want to get this thing going if for no other reason than to stifle growing dissension.

I know everyone is looking for answers or at least some form of affirmation. Problem is too many of you are approaching this with almost an entitlistic fervor. You need to understand their point of view on this a little. You think they owe you an explanation... Flip that. For them, giving us too much information damages the situation even more because it sets precedence and expectations... That if not achieved will even more caustic.

Long and short... let's be patient and show a little bit of understanding and self control. Let's not continue with the "*** is wrong with PGI" diatribes... It's self-serving and does nothing to help the situation.

And before some of you decide to flame me for this post... I'm not brown-nosing or have any dilutions of reciprocation for my defense of the devs and PGI. I'm just an older and wiser voice of reason who has idled through a lot of game launches, closed betas and the ilk. I've learned the hard way nothing good comes from harping on the Devs for things outside of their control... and I've grown to empathize for the growing pains they are dealing with right now.

Take this post for what it's worth... or not. I just thought it needed to be said.

Well said.

I had to do that while I lived in Las Vegas. Yes I played slot machines for a living.

That would imply accepting that other people have thoughts and feelings and moral value of their own, and exist as something other than figments of my damaged mind.

And that's just not something I can bring myself to do. :D

Everyone wants to get in on the beta, fact. Not everyone will get in the beta, fact again. MWO is the new greatest thing, as far as battletech/mechwarrior is concerned anyways; and like any new and great thing everyone just has to get into it. Chuck it up to modern societies instant gratification glut. You can get every thing you want now, or that is what all the advertisers like to convince you. Take from someone who's been around, a little patience goes a long way. I want to get in the beta, but I can wait until the game opens normally. Maybe I'm just old fashioned like that.

Thank you... lol Well, you can apply at my place of work, Sculpin QA. However, you'd have to move to either Newfoundland, Canada, or Prince Edward Island, Canada... And as far as I know, we actually have just a few to many testers at the moment.... :D

Yes, indeed curb your enthusiasm, and sit hands folded mouths shut! You are in the holy forums of MWO, and your desire to play must be subsumed as it detracts from the patience of those of us who are in silent prayer and fast, until the messages from the gods Paul, Eric, and Garth are passed unto us.

Shhhhh! Amen.

Much love,
