Add an aditional 8v8 premade queue where there is a designated split of light-medium-heavy-assault mechs. Premade teams which don't conform to the queue can't drop into it. Make the tonnage class split do a weekly rotation.

This gives 8v8 players a choice of whether they want to play an unlimited team match or a limited team match, and the rotation of limits adds variety. You can also host themed events like saturday night assaults or light mech mondays, etc.

Though, with the matchmaker as it is, the unlimited 8v8 queue may get even more deserted.
