I've been playing MWO for several months now with very decent performance, but since the latest hotfix patch was applied (removing the new years eve cockpit items & whatnot)...
1) The game starts normally
2) No background in mechlab other than animated welding sparks over solid black background
3) My mechs do appear on the bottom but are not selectable
4) The game crashes completely once I select a mech
I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled the game twice, updated my drivers & directx, all with the same result.
Does anyone else have this problem?

sounds like you need to get in touch with support, they may want to see some logs

I've started crashing in game now since the patch. It's different then in the past where it would just close. Now I get a hang of about 30 seconds and it just freezes till if I click around enough it finally does a CTD.

I am having the same problem as the OP.
Patcher launches.
Game starts normally.
News feed works, links to MWO homepage work properly.
Animated 'Welding sparks' and empty background in mechlab.
CTD upon clicking a mech.
Uninstalled and re-installed several times. Tryed remedies for previous crash issues described in forums (cache cleaning, file deletion, etc.) Ensured all my software is up to date. Even upgraded system hardware. All to no avail.
