Apparently I can bind my mouse 3 button to advanced zoom, but my scroll wheels are useless. I wanted to bind them to the different vision modes, respectively, but the game literally doesn't let me.
Speaking of advanced zoom, why does it follow the CT aim instead of the arms reticle? Shouldn't it be the other way around? I'd think it'd be better that way.
Why Can't I Bind My Scroll Wheel?

My best guess on this one is because the torso reticle moves around slower, so it is a lot less disorienting than the arms which can be flung around all over the place

You can bind functions to the scroll wheel by editing the actionmaps.xml in the Profiles folder and substituting "mwheel_up" and "mwheel_down" for the current mappings.

Actually, I think it would be less disorientating since you could focus better on what you're pointing at. Even if the CT reticle follows the arms. Maybe there's too much MW3 in me.

You must edit your actionmaps.xml file, located in MechWarrior Online/USER/Profiles/{Your profle name}.Use "mwheel_up" and "mwheel_down" for the inputs. Example:
<action name="m_toggle_zoom_mode"> <rebind device="keyboard" input="mwheel_up" index="2" defaultInput="mouse3"/> </action>

Personally I'd like the mech speed to be controlled by the mouse wheel...but hey I suppose I could edit a file and see what happens....

That is precisely what I was using before I dug out my ancient Nostromo n50 (yes, the original one), so now I'm using the scroll wheel on that as a throttle.
