Hi, Everyone.
I searched the forum, but didn't find an answer to this, but if there is and I just didn't see, please let me know.
Now, my question is:
Is there an accurate comparison chart / table / whatever for the height and shape of the mechs in MWO? I don't need specific numbers, but I'd like to compare how difficult it would be to hit different mechs with your weapons.
For instance it might be interesting to see, if the cicada is much taller / wider than the raven for instance in order to judge, which one you rather might want to use as a scout.

In short, yes. Some users did produce a .jpeg or equiv file showing a series of silhouettes of mechs to enable size comparisons. You will have to search for the image as I don't have a relevant URL to hand.

I don't have anything to show you, but the Lights are considerably smaller then others, cicada is the only thing over a light that doesn't have a pretty big silhouette however. The Cent, Dragon, Hunch are all pretty close mid sized and the Cat, and assaults are like shooting the usual broadside of a barn.

Really the only thing hard to hit are lights more so do to speed then size but they are smaller but its not a HUGE variation. Fluff wise all mechs are around 8-10 meters tall.

Anyone else think the Centurion is a little big? He's as tall and wide as a cataphract.

It's not the heights that are most important, it's the volume.

The total volume of a mech is what gives the overall targeting area from all aspects (side, front, top)

Ever thought BT might be better if they switched from battlemechs by mass to something similar to Traveller, displacement tons in terms of liquid hydrogen. This would make real world size comparisons (to things like cars) a great deal closer to true.

Have any 8-man teams thought of doing a couple launches with one of each mech, and recording a line-up in game? That way we could see front and side profile comparisons. I'm a lowly pugger with no friends, so it is beyond my capabilities. :P Maybe post it in the Fan Art section?

I don't think that chart is accurate. The Awesome isn't nearly that tall, and the Centurion isn't that big, either. The Cataphract looks a bit narrower than in-game, too. And look at the Hunchback - it's definitely taller than a Cicada in-game, but according to that chart they're almost the same size.

I've always felt the Cent in that image was entirely accurate. It's like a slightly smaller Atlas in this game.

Really, looking at it's weapon loadout and armor, it's practically half an atlas. I would love to see how ridiculously broken the Cent would be if they reduced it's size considerably.

I believe that's how they got those silhouettes in the first place.
