Haha your own poll too. That's pretty funny. Anyway, if PGI were to pay attention to the two, you'd think they would get an excellent reading of where the community is at, and hopefully make some adjustments to their own priorities lists and actions. But they have to be careful to not constantly change focus, else they just release haphazard "content" with no balance and no direction.

1. Netcode - let them feel the hurt of my weapons.
2. Balance - bring the damned ECM in line with other equipment.
3. CW - let the epic struggle begin.

I voted in the exact same order. I can't see the game being really worthwhile until the actual foundation of the game even works, so netcode is a must. Balance is second because starting CW with an imbalanced game just doesn't jive with me. Fix those machine guns, polish those PPCs, put some more umph into BAP (and take a little out of ECM). When all that is some of that is said and done, then CW with be really worth playing.

Bottom line, PGI is in way over there head and it's starting to really show.

I think you're being unnecessarily harsh. I've been very open in my critiques of how they've approached this game because I'm a firm believer that being a white knight does no one any good (especially not for the developers). I hope the bean counters didn't misread the success of the founders program, it wasn't necessarily demand for the product as is, but as what it is hoped to be. Many of us paid money based on faith, not on actual satisfaction. In fact, the were far from satisfied. I, as well as most people here hope that PGI will be successful in this endeavor. Faith/patience is a quantity and if anything, the founders program was simply front-loaded demand.

Netcode, better new user exp, dx11. I would say balance, but that evolves and I don't think it will ever be quite right.

My answers:
1- Lobby
2- Community Warfare
3- Netcode

EDIT: oops, I selected MAPS as 3rd. But both are extremely important imo.

I think you just nailed the biggest contributing factors to balance right there. It seems to easy, yet so elusive. I say balance needs to happen before CW, but not after netcode and the other user experiences (because balance is after all a huge part of the user experience too).

Gaussdragon, I think this is both an excellent and timely poll, nice to see one not filled with garbage filler.

My votes were:

1. Netcode -This one facet borders on so many other issues, I feel it is impossible ot judge those other issues accurately untl the netcode is in a place where it cannot mask or exascerbate other issues. Netcode for me is linked to the hit box issues, collisions, weapons balancing, map bugs (missle penetration, getting caught, holes), game mode balancing.

2. New maps - And by new I mean "not simply palate shifted retreads, a la Diablo monsters" we do need some variety and I have high hopes for the desert map which should hopefully offer a larger, open environment for longer engagement ranges, but enough room to maneuver around one another. Caustic is like this a bit, I would also like to see something like a jungle map, where the terrain and vegetation is a hindrance without being a barrier to movement.

3. New mechs - This includes the introduction of the clans, and their mechs, in my mind. I feel that as mechs and variants are released in each weight class, that variety will aid in balance rather than break it, and I am somewhat partial to new shiny things.

Yes I think we have to give them a couple of years of development time before calling PGI in over its head. Does it seem like they are struggling? Why yes it does. But there's still things they can do to change it. I'll wait til they jump the shark with lockboxes and mixed grind/pay2win equipment zones before I start calling them incompetent. Because there are so many other ways to make money...the first and foremost is by making a good game. And they started that, maybe they are just a little lost or have manpower allocated improperly right about now.

First things first is fixing things that are broken: netcode therefore gets my first pick.

Second is being able to play with friends, set up practice drops, scrimmages, new player training, just for funzies, etc. That is why a lobby gets my second pick.

Third is the biggest and most exciting feature of this game that PGI promised: community warfare. Invading planets, taking ownership, fighting off attackers, owning and managing territory. This is the premier content and we should be seeing some work on it. This is why community warfare gets my third pick.

Again, amen. I've never been the most 'MUH IMMERSIONS' minded player, but one of the things I most fondly look back upon in MW4 was the scale of the maps. Sometimes it was refreshing to have unusual spawn points in a match so you could discover entirely new parts of the map. If you look at MW4 heatmaps, it would have been a few concentrated areas of action with huge, untouched areas with no activity. It was nice to just get lost on those large maps and go exploring from time to time. With the sheer size and number of MW4 maps, it seems there were always corners of maps I'd never been to before.

Also, if PGI simply made the rest of the maps remakes of MW4 maps, I'd be happy, nay, ecstatic. I'd love, love, love to see PGI do recreations of some MW4 maps like Frostbite, Dustbowl, Equinox, etc only in DX11... I'd **** myself.

1. Community Warfare
2. Community Warfare
3. Community Warfare

Think of this, how much did the game change for people when they started doing group drops? Big deal right? It's time for the next step, it's time for guild interaction.

The game is at a point where playability and new content need to take a backseat to community warfare. Many players are beginning to leave MWO because it has gotten stale for them. Honestly unless you care about your stats there is no carry over between games other than cbills and xp, which I don't have much use for anymore.

We need to get this going and established before we go any further, regardless of content or netcode errors. Why? Because it's now or never folks, we need to set the hook if this community is going to thrive. I don't see nearly as many people online on a daily basis (on TS) because the game is getting stale for them. The matches need a purpose beyond the match itself. I play for love of the game but not everyone is the same way, in fact after 7 months I'm pretty bored too. And this patch isn't super promising, the spider? bleh, nobody cares.

Give me a reason to fight!

especially as the devs are giving us the anti infantry specialized Spider variants.
in a game without infantry

one variant has a flamer... oooo scary

another has two mgs...

Very well put! Like I said earlier, because this game is IP based (and pvp based), it has a finite target market, at some point it's going to be more important to focus on player retention than player addition. Are we at that point yet? Me? I don't know, maybe not. But by you and several others we are. This is where releasing analytical data becomes so important to helping guide player discussions, and revealing PGI direction, but PGI has held data close to their chest thus far.

It's actually rather difficult to pick only three things.

Obviously netcode is up there, that's a huge turn off.

Lobby system would solve so many problems for new and veteran players it isn't even funny.

And let's go with maps, because 4 maps with 3 variations isn't really enough variety for a game people plan to play for hundreds of hours.
