As far as hyperbole goes, between my team doing it and the enemy team doing it, it happens about 3 games in every 5, which is far too much imo. That's why I don't play Assault.

"Don't cap the base! You don't get anything for it!"
Well if you don't want me to cap then DEFEND YOUR FREAKING BASE. Otherwise stop the QQ and take your loss and move on to the next game. I like a good brawl as much as the next guy but if you are too ignorant to pay attention to the objectives that's life. Move on.
And yes occasionally there are times where both teams completely miss each other. In that case the game is over with quickly and you can jump into another match fast. Not a big loss of time.

I think the devs made it pretty clear from the start that this game would require teamwork, scouting, map awareness and communication. The deathball meta is strong but (thankfully) both game modes still call for a minimal amount of map awareness and scouting. The cap mechanic is there so one can counter the enemy deathball without just another deathball.
If you just want to farm for in-game currency, play Diablo III or something. If you just want to shoot and blow stuff up without map awareness or teamwork... well... there must be a game for that too, right?

Hell, sometimes Assault matches just devolve into a "who can cap each other's base the fastest" race.

Unbelievable. Do you realize how arrogant that sounds?
Suggesting people to go play another game only because they don`t play it the way you want should be a punishable offense. This kind of behavior drives possible customers away. I don`t want to see this community degenerate to a steamlike ... i don`t even want to use the word "community" for that. People like you are doing the first steps to that.

Though I agree with my fellow Lawman fully. as someone who has designed a few scenarios for Conventions and poured over many a scenario packs for reference, the priority of objectives is a descending one. Primary is listed first(Cap the Base), secondary after that(Destroy the enemy) and tertiary after that(If there was one it would be escape from your side of the map or similar).

I do not start a game with a plan to cap, but if I see your entire team blob up and blindly march in one direction on River City, I'm gonna go the other way and sit on your cap point. Stop disrespecting my team and play properly, or I wont respect you with a proper fight.
It's not even hard. There are basically 2 lanes on each map. Your team pushes one lane, and then you just need one guy to poke his head down the other. Voila, you don't get backdoored 99.9% of the time.

Will I take a cap win if the other team is derping around and being stupid? Yes
I prefer to not blob around the map, use scouts, and play the base as an option. We will use the base as a way to make the other team divert some resources back to stop us. If they are that dumb, and they choose to play deathmatch, we will win by assault. Frankly, Im good either way. All Im doing is forcing you to play by my terms.
I just wish they would throw some type of reward back on the base again to make for a more varied game than this crap that we have now that has devolved into a deathmatch.

Agreed 110%. I'm not going to reward your laziness with an up front fight because you refused to scout. It doesn't take much to figure out either.
In the same note, if I am in a light and suddenly find my team 3+ mechs down in the middle of the map, I'm going to hit that cap in an effort to separate your team and give my team a chance to recover. Very rarely will I ever sit on the cap until the end as I would always rather fight it out, but if it means getting a win because no one is responding to said cap attempt, then so be it. I'm not going to penalize my team for dying if I can finish out a cap that doesn't get answered.

Capping the base is part of the game mechanic. Using it, for whatever reason, is valid. Suggesting to other players, that they should leave if they don't want to "kill stuff", is not.
At the same time, if that is your point of view, it is as valid as the one of those who are not opposed to base capping. So I will simply remind everyone to remain civilized in your discussion.

It precipitated a flurry of negative comments. Part of this game is farming, part of it is blowing stuff up, and part of it is map awareness and teamwork. What makes this game good is that it has all of these elements seemlessly integrated into one game, making it fun for a variety of people. After all, I like blowing stuff up too!
Sorry for my inflamatory remarks.

It's only lame because you're not interested in the war part of this game. Pewing is fun and your personal favourite part but it's not the only aspect to the game. I play to beat the mission. If the mission gives me more than one way to win, I will take the one that makes the most sense at the time. If it involves a giant brawl of massive massive shooting until everything explodes then yaaay. If it involves sacrificing a firing line so the speedscout can snag a cap despite our eating shells and all the rest of us dying horribly, then yaaay. If it involves skirmishes all across the map to stop a gang of speed demons then yaaay. Those are all fun to me.
If someone narrowly out-bases us in a Conquest despite losing every other mech on their team (this happened tonight actually), then they get a gg; that is pulling victory from the ashes of defeat, not OMG COWARD FACE ME. A smart win is as good as a hard win, and sometimes the smart win IS the hard win.
